Differentiate the instruction

Technology is brilliant at facilitating differentiated instruction. Because each learner is different it's a huge challenge for teachers to accommodate the needs of everyone. Technology can support the differences more readily than doing things by hand. An example: A student in my grade 9 academic math class has an IEP that identifies an LD where he has very limited working memory. He has a very tough time doing multiple tasks simultaneously (example writing a note while listening to what is said by the teacher). Google classroom allows me to share all notes I do on the SMARTBoard with the class so this student is able to focus entirely on what I, as the teacher, am doing and saying and he doesn't have to worry about capturing it in to his own notebook.

From https://brock.scholarsportal.info/journals/brocked/home/article/viewFile/146/143

" Special education is an issue in First Nations communities and schools. First Nations students with special needs attending First Nations schools encounter many difficulties. These difficulties include: inadequate funding (Fulford, 2007; Kavanagh, 2006; Mamow Sha-way-gi-kay-win, 2007a; Martin, 2009) and lack of services (Brant 2000; Mamow Sha-way-gi-kay-win, 2007b). Such difficulties have resulted in many First Nations students with special needs being forced to leave their home communities to attend provincial schools to have their needs met (Assembly of First Nations [AFN], 2005) "
Technology offers a handful of opportunities to mitigate many of these issues. One of the most obvious is it should allow students to not have to leave their homes. Collaboration technology will allow students to work with others remotely. Skype will allow students to work with educators from a distance.
Technology will allow all students "to have a voice", each student has the opportunity to communicate the concerns/desires in a way that without it, they would be unable to.
