Really popular activity can be used with any level.
Pupils divided into teams. One person from each team runs to a certain point where there is a text. They memorise as much as they can before running back to their team and writing down what they remember, then the next person goes. Winners are the first team to have recorded all of the text perfectly, including punctuation.

Murder mystery

Pupils must follow instructions in the TL to find the clues which lead them to the final destination. This can be done as a murder mystery/cluedo type game and pupils must work in groups to help one another to decipher the clues. This is also very fun as there is a competitive aspect where the first time to solve the mystery wins and the times taken to get there can be recorded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The full school grounds can be used for this and outdoor props used as “murder weapons”.

Fitting for this time of year. Pupils need to translate the clues to find the hidden eggs and the group with the most eggs when the timer goes off wins. The pupils get to use their problem solving skills and show how well they can work as part of a team. It also allows them to explore the wider school grounds and encounter language learning in a different environment.

This can be adapted, depending on where the school is situated (within the school ground, local forests, etc).
The pupils are divided into groups and are given tasks in TL to find something that either has a certain colour, is made out of a certain material, hight, length, weight, etc. They are then required to take pictures of the object that they found. The team that was able to find most items within a certain time frame, wins. The pupils get to use their translation and communication skills, as well as problem solving skills (you can only take a picture of one object for one question - then you can't use it anymore, so you need to choose wisely). It shows the practical use of a language and is a fun task outwith the usual classroom environment.

This task could be done to support learning directions in the target language. Create an obstacle course in the playground and divide the pupils into pairs giving each pair a blindfold. Using the target language the students must guide their partners to the finish line. This could be done as a timed activity with a prize for the pair that completes the task the quickest.

Pupils are divided in pairs and are giving a specially prepared orienteering map featuring the school grounds in the target language. The pupils have to use the map to find and collect ‘control points’ which are listed in the map in the target language. The pair of pupils with the fastest time in collecting the control points win the race. The aim of this activity is to acquire more vocabulary to describe pupils’ school. Depending on the amount of details and vocabulary included in the map this activity can be used at all BGE levels.
