Identifying as BIPOC and more specifically as Asian American, it was eye opening (yet not surprising and disturbing) to read about the statistics associated with this group, including the number of them to be in specific managerial levels. Similarly, the increase in the number of hate crimes towards this and other racial minority groups is alarming and points to the escalated need to educate, inform, and create culturally aware spaces (which again speaks to the deep need to integrate DEI into organizations, institutions, and in the conversations we have consistently... being comfortable with "discomfort" and engaging in this space/work is integral to advancing racial justice.

In reading these chapters and diving into the book, it makes me reflect on the reality that I haven't engaged in discussion around issues of racial justice and equity within an organizational space in this way for a long time. It reminds me of the need to keep these conversations going and how organizational spaces are places/spaces where we can ignite meaningful discussion and change.
