         <description><![CDATA[<div>-Immigration Act of 1917<br>-Cartoon I<br>-Created a zone from which no persons were allowed to enter into the United States (stretched from the Middle East to Southeast Asia). Also created a literacy test intended to reduce European immigration.<br>-The literacy test is symbolized as being a large, intimidating military border. This shows how the literacy test was in the perspective of immigrants. It was very challenging and unfair to those who truly wanted to be in the country.</div>]]></description>
