The thesis was written for the purpose of educating others about how children affect and deal with certain social constructs like race and ethnicity. These topics impact their lives even when it seems like it would not. The thesis relates to the TEKS by acknowledging and understanding the contributions of certain racial groups.

I chose Robyn Montana Turner because she has written many books on the topic of culture in Texas. This would be a great field trip to go on for this content area because it will teach the students straight from the source. It will show them that where they live in Texas, was highly impacted by the culture of African Americans. They would get to know the historical relevance that is coming from their own turf.
