Remake of Voting Concept Tracker by Gaby Figueroa

You'll use this Padlet template to track your knowledge development as we work our way through a series of texts on the subject of voting. To start, you'll want to make a copy of this Padlet template by clicking "remake" in the upper lefthand corner and checking both the "copy design" and "copy posts" boxes. You'll then use the first column ("My understanding before reading") to record your current knowledge and ideas about voting, voter suppression, and vote by mail. Then, as you complete a new reading each week, add to the "new ideas and examples" column for that text. There is no set number of required new ideas or examples to add each week and some texts might present you with more new information than others. The goal is to thoughtfully and thoroughly engage with the material each week and to use these notes to see how your knowledge and ideas evolve as you work through the texts. You'll refer back to these notes at the end of the unit as you work on your mid-semester reflection.

-voting by mail has become more and more difficult in the sense that we HAVE to follow very specific rules for our votes to acutally count (ex. you must use the same signature from your ID/ license when you sign your voter form unless you change your option when you regisiter)
-more reasons, it's easier and better to vote in person
-voter suppression; I know it's used in a way to influence the voter turnout, discouring or even prevents people (specific groups)
-when I think of voting (generally) I think of electoral votes, voter suppression and the ways the governemnt has set rules to deprive people and influence voter turn out to a president/ political party can win
-gerry mandering

This article refreshed my mind about voter supprestion sepcifically about;
-voter ID laws
-jim crow laws
-the huge decrese in voting in the African American community
It is very important to see that history has not only repeated it self once with voter suppression but possibly twice concidering this years Presidential Election. The fact that President Trump doesn't believe in mail-in ballots and is in fear that the Democratic party wouln't alow another Republican Candiate is off putting. Either way there will be candidates to represent both political parties but because of fear and wants to cut down the postal service is literaly voter suppression. I think the majority if mail in voters are Democrats and that is why he is in fear of mail in ballets when it's a right of all citizens.

1. found it interesting how you can actually request your ballots inadvance
2. there is slime to almost no evidence of election fraud
3. it's hypocritical that a big portion of Republicans fear mail in ballots bc such a huge number of democrats and other groups use mail in ballots. When their party also used mail in ballots to win a seat in Congress
4. Mail in ballots are very benifical to people with disabilities as well as democrats, young generation, low income people, minorities, and people who don't have transportation access
5. I didn't realize some states required voters to provide an explanation for wanting to recive absentee ballots.
6. mail in ballot definitly works, no fraud, and it something that is being consumed by newer generations and other groups
