The definition of a maker movement is "independent inventors, designers and tinkerers." This could be people who work with computers. It could also be the ones that do hands on things. It is also defined as anyone that makes things. How to can veggies would even fall under this category. There are a lot of techie people out there that would fall under this as well. The thing that concerned the author of this article is that he did not see any African American people there looking at the computer things like the 3-D printers. There were only a couple of Hispanic families there. We need to get everyone involved in becoming makers themselves

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
Students who start early will follow through. It states that an eighth grader with an interest in STEM is three times more likely to pursue a degree in those careers later in their life. Also, show students why STEM careers matter. This could be women, low-income families, or minorities. Last, Explain that STEM education creates opportunity. There will be more than one million graduates with STEM degrees that will need to fill jobs that require those skills.
