Jack and I met our freshman year at Loyola Academy through mutual friends. 

I decided to interview Jack because he had been a close friend of mine despite attending different  high schools and living in different states. Jack and I also share a passion in regards to sports. Our friendship took off my sophomore year at the Academy with Jack in our Latin class where we sat next to each other.

When Jack isn't skating and playing hockey Jack often can be seen spending time with his close friends and relatives. Jack committed to Harvard his sophomore year of high school to play hockey, following the footsteps of his father. Jack plans to major in economics at Harvard and plans to get a degree even if he is drafted during college. Jack’s Waterloo Blackhawks were upset in the Western conference semifinals by the Fargo Force. Drury’s team won the Anderson Cup which is given to the regular season champion, similar to the Presidents’ Trophy in the NHL.

I interviewed Jack to get in the mind of a top tier athlete who most likely will end up in the NHL. I have always enjoyed sports and I have always wondered what most professional athletes were like on their journey to the pros. We almost expect those that are in the pros had an easy path and were destined to play professionally. We expect those athletes to be perfect. It was gratifying seeing how humble Jack is in regards to his achievements on and off the ice.
