The author uses incorrect spelling, ignorance of the things going on around Charlie , etcetera to show his slower mental state in the beginning. His spelling and grammar are very poor and he does not understand that his so called 'friends' are really making fun of him or the 'pictures' in the inkblots. As the story goes on after the operation, the author slowly changes these things by improving Charlie's grammar and spelling, and also making him have realizations of the world around him. Charlie makes important discoveries before slowly starting to deteriorate mentally to his former state with grammatical errors and ignorance of the world around him.
