Able to derive how and why a formula is obtained and written in that certain way.

A lecturer must be strict but approachable within acceptable bounds. A punishment for not remembering a formula in a test/quiz should not exist in the first place, because remembering formula is useless. Encourage students to learn deriving and understanding, rather than blindly memorising.

A lecturer must not be judgmental and treat all students equally. Vocal students, quiet students? All of them should be given the same amount of attention and guidance. You teach us to relate theory from the book to nowadays applications.

Somewhat lacking of exercises. I would suggest to separate the questions/examples into a tutorial file on its own and leave just the theories and information as the lecture note/slides. 

Maybe because of this the students are not used to the sudden change in style throughout the years. Not saying that it is wrong.

It will take time for students to accept something they are not custom to. Perhaps you could highlight to them your teaching style and explain why you conduct it as it is.
