         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Missouri Compromise of 1820 is an agreement made by congress which made Missouri a slave state and Maine a free state.          <description><![CDATA[<div>With the gag rule, slavery was quiet for 10 years until when President Polk sent a bill to congress asking to fund the Mexico-American war. David Wilmot added an amendment to the bill and this action would soon be known as the Wilmot Proviso. Wilmot's proviso stated to prohibit slavery to the new land the U.S gained from the Mexican-American war.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Henry Clay a senator of Kentucky (the creator of the Missouri Compromise) found a solution for California and the argument if it should be a free state or slave state. To make both sides happy Clay, for the Northerners will admit California to be a slave state. For the Southerners to be pleases, Clay will allow New Mexico and Utah territories decide to allow slaves or not.          <description><![CDATA[<div>The Fugitive Slave act is an act that was passed stating that any runaway slave that is found should be returned to their owner and if you don't give them to the owner, you will be jailed.          <description><![CDATA[<div>When the Kansas act of 1854 passed people filled the land fast, most where farmers looking for peace and some were settlers to oppose or support slavery. Soon Kansas had two governments one for slavery and one against and soon the struggle over the slavery views turned violent. Boarder Ruffians invaded Lawrence, burned hotels, looted homes and tossed printing press of two abolitionists newspaper into the Kaw river.          <description><![CDATA[<div>The violent actions in Kansas surprised and angered Senator Charles Sumner. He was so angered that he made a harsh passionate speech about his suspicions on Stephen Douglas plotting  with southerners to make Kansas a slave state. Many people attacked Sumner and was beaten harshly for his speech and belief.          <title>11: The Dred-Scott Decision</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A former slave named Dred Scott went to Missouri's court to win his freedom and were nine judges on the Supreme Court, and five of them were from the south, the other four, north. Chief Justice Roger Taney was one of the southerners who hoped to use Scott's case to settle the slavery argument.          <title>12: Lincoln - Douglas Debates</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Abraham Lincoln was nominated to run for Senate by republicans. Republicans was a new created party that shared the belief that no man can own another man, the right of slaves or African Americans should be protected and all territories should be a free state, especially the new territories. Lincoln's competitor was non other than Stephen Douglas. Stephen believe that the Dred-Scott decision had put the slavery issue to rest but Lincoln thought differently.          <description><![CDATA[<div>John Brown thought that he needed to take a more of a violent action to end slavery, so he started to arm slaves with weapons so they can fight back. The rebellion fail, for all of Browns army was killed or captured and Brown was going to be hing, he wrote a letter saying that the U.S will only end slavery with war or blood shed.
