Huge difference between ELA test results between 5th graders and 6th grades. 23-24 5th graders had a 41% met achievement level while only 28% of 23-24 6th graders that met achievement level.

There is a huge difference in number of students being tested from 5th grade to 6th grade. Half of the 6th grade students came from outside schools. That being said still the majority of our students need support, scaffolding, and small group instruction.

I now understand why students are struggling so much with review, since the majority of students did not meet achievement level wit their previous year.

For 7th grade, 2022 started off with a low 33 but in 2023 increased dramatically to 56 which is higher than all the grades, except Grade 11. In 2024, it dropped slightly but still a good 47. In Grade 8, it was at a low 34 in 2022, and in 2023 it increased to 38. In 2024, it slightly increased to 40. Each year had a gradual improvement.

Overall, the scores in ELA have grown in a positive direction for 7th and 8th over time. As a Social Science team, we are satisfied with the progress and are excited to see that growth continue over time.

PROS: Science tests match the Math and English scoring. Overall, scores have improved from the year before.

Concerns: Making sure the standards are covered between all three years of middle school.

CER must be taught since 6th grade.

It was difficult to discern. For the current 8th grade class they had an increase of # of students from 6th grade to 7th grade. Their at/above increased from 51 to 92. But their below also increased from 49 to 76.

A question we have is how does the data compare to a control variable? For example, is 33 “good”? Is 56 “excellent”? What are the measurements?
