If a student is found using a phone without permission:

• The phone will be confiscated.

• It will be sent to the office.

• A parent or guardian must pick it up—phones will not be returned directly to students.

My classroom phone policy is taken very seriously. Disruptions caused by phones interfere with learning and will not be tolerated.

Laptops are to be used only for school-related assignments during class time.

If a student is found:

• Playing games

• Browsing unapproved websites

• Using the device for non-academic purposes

Then:

• Laptop privileges will be revoked

• Consequences will be assigned according to school and classroom discipline policies

🔍 Please note: All device activity is monitored by the school district, and teachers have access to students' browsing history. Misuse of technology is taken seriously and will be addressed accordingly.

• California Education Code § 51512: Prohibits recording in classrooms without prior consent from the teacher and principal.

• California Penal Code § 632: Requires all-party consent for recording confidential communications, including classroom discussions.

• FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act): Protects student privacy. Photos or videos that identify students may not be shared without permission.

These laws support our classroom policies on phone use, laptop behavior, and digital responsibility. Violations may result in disciplinary action and parent involvement.
