Lose lose situation. They let the pipeline pass, the spill could destroy the land and the nature on it. If they don't let the pipeline pass, their people and youth will still have to suffer from unemployment and they will flee to cities. Also, another issue that complicates the situation is that the land is not fully theirs, the government controls it. Now that the pipeline has been approved, it's also because the chiefs that voted aren't all hereditary. So they didn't even have full control/say over what happens because electorals from the government get to have a say. It's all biased and none of it works in the Indigenous People's favour?? I personally feel like yes, the government is more at fault. It's like an issue that's been going on since they took over the Indigenous land without consent. Now they feel like they own it and get to do whatever they want on it, so they are more at fault for being entitled.

Its not really much of most significant issue problem. There's not really one problem to solve, but rather a large web of issues that are piled up upon each other, problem of systematic racism, historical issues left unsolved, a poorly created system dealing with First Nations, and so many more.

This issue is merely one that further piles upon a massive amount of similar problems that reveal a failing system and discontented people. And akin to a gunpowder keg, the question now is "Do we try to work on this issue in great strides or wait until a greater issue arises ?"

And this problem is not merely one of the government.
