The Iranian Revolution took place in 1979. Represents a different kind of revolution from the ones that you usually thing about. Two branches of Muslims, Sunni and Shiahs. Most people in Iran are Persian, not Arabic. Oil pact helps to make a change of dynasty. There was then a further shift towards communism in the Shiah group of Muslims. A lot of the protestors were motivated for different reasons. The first part of the Iranian Revolution was originally peaceful protests that turned into a revolution. There is a long history of oppressing want for liberty and constitution in Iran. Many Iranian prisoners get the death sentence.
