Evidence I have to support my theme is where in the story after Ian strikes the gym teacher loads of responsibility and possible consequences are stacked upon him. With this occurring this causes Ian to see the bigger picture which is taking care of his younger brother Sammy and making sure that Sammy has better opportunities then Ian did. Throughout the story he questioned his actions and began to question whether or not the choices he made were for himself or for his family. He was a leader by being an older brother to his younger brother, Sammy. One example I can use to support this how Ian talks to Sammy when Sammy doesn't want to continue the journey of finding their father anymore. Ian pushes him by telling that there is nothing left in Spokane for the both of them. Even though the message is not entirely positive Ian is still a good leader as he gets others to act against their will. Another example is when Ian tells Sammy everything will get better and Sammy actually believes it.
