Question: What I notice of the phenomena of a Solar Eclipse is that whenever the Sun gets aligned to the Moon, it creates a shadow, making it more like night.

When a total solar eclipse, notice how the shadows are angled to create a gate of light to leave a little for Earth. My thought is that if the Moon's size was enlarged by a few thousand miles in every direction, would parts of the world be completely dark with no light whatsoever?
