1st grade spun our wheels for over an hour trying to grapple with how assessments could be administered effectively, age appropriately, and in a timely manner (not take weeks for all students to be assessed on one standard). We came up with ideas but nothing that seemed viable especially not with the current assessments that we have worked so hard to create to match the report card. Is the expectation that we completely create new assessments (because current ones are not conducive to DL administration) and then to re load them (create flex assessments and match standards) into Illuminate since 1st grade does not give assessments digitally with the exception of Skills Assessments? Assessment Days or Week?

We're a little concerned about students not on westlake chromebooks. We'd like to use GoGuardian, but only about 1/3-1/2 of our students are on chromebooks.

Also, thinking about writing, we're wondering how we can get true student writing (without parent interference)?

8th grade humanities feels good.

We had not been using Illuminate to administer assessments anyway, so that isn't a hurdle we need to jump.

We came up with a protocol where students stay in the Google Meet during assessments and drop a comment in the chat when they are done. That's our signal to double check. If we give them the green light, they are excused to log off the Google Meet and transition to independent time.

We were confused about timing with tests. Do students have infinite time to finish a test or does it all end synchronously?

We also were wondering about SPED students and testing. If students have accommodations, how are those being fulfilled in an online testing situation.

If we change an assessment to fit DL needs does it still need to be vetted or what does that process look like in changing it in illuminate?

We feel good about the assessments we've given (one math and one science) and spent most of the time discussing best practices for communicating with students and parents after, establishing positive assessment culture, and digging into our shared testing philosophies during DL.

While we all shared an understanding of the importance of valid assessment results, we also recognize the reality of adding more stress to kids' lives with strict testing procedures. We want our students to feel loved, trusted, and successful when we ask them to show us what they've learned.

We are in need of assessment day information as well as I.A. support to administer assessments. As we look into what we are reporting on, most assessments (all but 1) are one-on-one assessments. With our current schedule we do not have the time as teachers to complete these all of these assessments as well as follow our daily schedule. We need to know how much time we will be given to assess as well as how much support in order to make decisions on assessments.

8th grade math/science feels good. We have been using illuminate for math benchmarks and we are finding was to substitute our science assessments but still put them into Illuminate. We also morphed our science units a bit to be slightly more digital so the students are prepared for the assessment in that way. Even if it's taking a photo of their science work and submitting it.
