Boundaries: It helps to provide professional boundaries between the counsellor and client and that is contingent on the different type of counselling we’re conducting. Nevertheless, boundaries will always be present when we work with our clients (e.g contact after office hours).

Confidentiality: Conflict of interest (for when a kid who self-harms or raped but wants their issues to be secret); there is this struggle because you do want the client to trust you and discuss about their issues but you also are liable to the professional ethics you are bound to. Moral ambiguity ensues where you would want to respect the client’s interests but also being answerable to the institution you’re working for.
