Scene 1 – The Wish

Alif:

Once upon a time, in a small village, lived an old woman named Mother Srini. She was lonely and wished for a child.

Ibnu:

Oh dear God, please give me a child. I’ll take care of them with all my heart.

(Buto Ijo appears.)

Nanda:

Hahaha! I can give you a child. But when she grows up, you must give her to me!

Ibnu:

(sadly) I agree…

Nanda:

Plant this cucumber seed. Your child will come from it!

(leaves laughing)

Scene 2 – Timun Mas is Born

Alif:

From the cucumber grew a beautiful baby girl named Timun Mas.

Erlan:

Her name is Zahra, my precious Timun Mas.

Zahra:

Goodbye, Mother. I’ll be brave.

(Zahra runs. Buto Ijo chases her.)

Scene 5 – The Magic Battle

Zahra:

Take this! (throws seeds) — A cucumber field!

(Buto Ijo eats but keeps chasing.)

Zahra:

Needle, become bamboo forest!

Nanda:

Ouch! But I’m not done!

Zahra:

Salt, become the sea!

Nanda:

I can swim!

Zahra:

Shrimp paste, become hot lava!

Nanda:

Nooo! It’s burning!

(He disappears.)

Scene 6 – Happy Ending

Ibnu:

My daughter, you’re safe!

Erlan:

Your courage saved us all.

Alif:

And so, Timun Mas lived happily with her mother.
