Dream

Some background info is that I was in the CCA called 'Concert Band' in Secondary School. I once dreamt about me playing the flute, but then something was off. The buttons felt spiky and mushy, and it was rusty? Basically, old and not as brand new which was odd since at that time, my secondary school just recently got a new flute.

That's when I realised, I was using my junior's flute this whole time! I panicked because the flute that I use was the most expensive one the school has bought so far (at least $4000+) and when I saw my junior's one instead of mine, I thought I lost/misplaced it for good. I still had the carrying case, but the flute itself was my junior's one

Reflection

This was one of the scariest dreams I ever had. Because not only did I lose an expensive flute. But I had to PAY for the lose flute if my Secondary School found out. My 15 year old self does NOT have the money for that. 😢😞

Storytelling concepts

Character: Myself

Conflict: Me losing or misplacing my flute

Setting: At home? Because I wasn't able to check if my flute was in school or not in the dream

Theme: Horror (because I lost something very valuable in the dream💔)

How it inspired me: This article inspired me to maybe make a story on how the main character's items got misplaced. (like my dream)

Story concept: A couple from Thailand, traveling abroad for the first time, were surprised to realise they had picked up the wrong luggage upon arriving at Narita Airport in Japan. Their surprise turned to shock when they discovered the bag contained 24kg of cannabis.

Concept based on article: Instead of finding cannabis, it could be the MC (main character) taking the wrong bag and discover something magical/interesting. It might be a positive or negative depending on what the MC does with it. It's only up to MC's decisions and choices now...

Unfortunely, that also means I didn't get feedback from my peers because I didn't have a solid story structure nor do I have good pictures to convey my story.

I will focus more on what I enjoy. Redo the milestones again to see what stories I can come up. I want to create a story that even I, the viewer, would enjoy and continue watching.

Dream

Recently, I had this dream where I was playing a game. Except I was in the game itself, so I wasn't playing as any character, I was playing as myself. Then for some reason, one of the bosses came on the first level.

It was a multiplayer game, so me and a couple of strangers (understandably) freak out and started to run around the map which was a supermarket. We then had tasks to do and there was this one scene I accidentally led the boss to some people doing tasks, but they managed to finish on time, so we RAN. But for some reason, the last task wasn’t complete. I then started to ask where everyone was, but no one respond.

Reflection

This dream helped me come up with a story about a timid girl being scared as she got lost at the park/forest. It was dark and scary and there were recent cases about people going missing. Last seen in this exact park/forest. When she wanted to check the map, her phone suddenly ran out of battery, so she had to navigate her way all alone.

Then suddenly, someone's footsteps were heard. It was a guy in a hoodie behind her, slowly follow her. Feeling terrified, she instinctively walked faster. But the stranger started to walk faster too. She turned around and saw the stranger holding a pair of sharp scissors!

She panicked and started to sprint, running as fast as possible until she saw the light

Once she had reached the light, she saw someone listening to their songs on their headphones and approached the person to ask for help. The person noticing the girl, seemingly frightened calmed her down and reassured everything was okay. The person then offered to lead her back, but they had to go through the forest again as that is the only way back. The girl wanting some company and noticing how the person seems capable of protecting the both of them, she felt more at ease and agreed.

Then the person nodded and started to lead the way. But little did the girl know that the person had the same tattoo on their hand and the scissors hiding at the person's back pocket.

Storytelling concepts

Character: Timid girl, Stranger (killer), Person ("killer"?)

Conflict: A timid girl getting followed by a stranger

Setting: Late at night, midnight at the forest/park

Theme: Horror

How it inspired me: The son was diagnosed with a chromosomal disorder known as DiGeorge Syndrome. So maybe my character could have some kind of mental disorder like "Schizophrenia". So maybe the killer was never there to begin with. (Unless there was a killer but she doubt herself due to her disorder.)

Story concept: A TikToker who had been missing for 10 days has been found dead in a wooded area by his family in Georgia. Schneider’s body was found inside a car matching the description of the silver Toyota 4Runner family members said he had borrowed from a friend for a night out at adult entertainment club Rumors, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.

Concept based on article: The main character gets lost and hear eerie noises. Which made her hallucinate and made her see things like a killer. Unless it wasn't a hallucination...

Recap reflection from last week

After taking my test shots, I got feedback saying that it’s not that clear especially when the other actor was unavailable. I also felt that a lot of the shots were all quite similar. There is a lot of things I can improve on like lighting and I could play with colours even more, adding more details and elements to add more meaning to the story.

I should try to play with more angles and try to make the bystander more obvious that he is the killer/part of the plan. To make the story easier to understand, I decided to simplify it. (Next slide)

What I improved on

I did polish up on my story and managed to get another actor because my initial actor was still feeling unwell. I tried to make all the shots different in some way, but I also felt that since all the shots are mostly the same, it feels more connected, and viewers won't be too confused as to where or what was going on. I did manage to play with the lightning for the poster and near the end of the story. Playing with the colours by making my actors wear different clothes. The girl wearing white to show innocence and red to show her soon death. The killer wearing all black to show her sinister side. The bystander wearing a white shirt to show "innocence" but her other clothing was black to show the sinister side to her, showing that she is the killer. I also added a small subtle detail by making the killer have an eye on her right hand that is not that noticeable. I did manage to play with the angles like using high angle and dutch.
