- climate refugees are groups of people who, for reasons related to climate change are obligated to leave theri homes to fine more habitable homes.
- Because of the country’s natural susceptibility to extreme weather, the people of Bangladesh have always used migration as a coping strategy.
- conditions intensify under climate change, more people are being driven from their homes and land by more frequent and severe hazards. Sea level rise, storms, cyclones, drought, erosion, landslides, flooding and salinization are already displacing large numbers of people.

- It has been estimated that by 2050, one in every seven people in Bangladesh will be displaced by climate change. Up to 18 million people may have to move because of sea level rise alone.

There are 2 million residents on about 100 different islands in the Ganges river delta. The islands are just above the water line.

Groundwater quality has reduced due to contamination from sea water. This is their many resident's only supply of clean water so contamination damages their health and well being.

Many residents have thus been forced to migrate north to the Dhaka slums. This causes slums to become more populous which can be damaging for living standards and the environment.

- Climate change is influencing weather patterns, such as more frequent tropical storms, in addition to rising sea levels. This is making the coastal area at the Ganges river delta in Bangladesh (Sundarbuns) vulnerable to erosion, so people in this area are losing their land and no longer able to grow high amounts of crops.
- In the past, agriculture used to thrive but now people aren't able to. Some people have turned to more salt resistant crops (due to saltwater intrusion), some have turned to shrimp farming while others have migrated to the city
- Those who migrate to Dhaka tend to live in slums and aren't able to escape the cycle of poverty.
- Goverment responses aren't what the people want. They want prevention methods, rather than camps and subsidization after the damage is already done. A tropical storm in 2008 (I think?) destroyed embankments which the government hasn't completely rebuilt yet

- Heat waves will break new records in a 4°C hotter world
- Sea-level rise, already under way in the Bay of Bengal, could exceed one meter by 2100, displacing an estimated 13 million Bangladeshis
- New rainfall patterns will lead to polarized river flows
- Groundwater stress will increase affecting 20 million people
- Warming of 4°C will severely threaten crops, especially rice grown during annual monsoons.
- Yields will decrease despite any potentially positive effects of warming
