1. Acquisition
Acquisition is a procedure of adding items to your collection. There a few of ways to receive or obtain the material or collection for examples :

Donation - contribution of valauble from the owner to the collections center to be used as an asset.

Purchase of items - Pay for goods charged or required by the owner of the goods.

A transfer of items - transfer of ownerless goods to a valuable goods collection center

2. Cataloguing
Cataloguing is the thing an archivist does is make the collections stored by the archive accessible to researchers. The National Archives and government agencies must collaborate to choose historical records for long-term preservation, secure their transfer, and maintain their accessibility.

The majority of the recommendations in the parts that follow this advice are related to the five traits that the National Archives seek in the categorising information supplied by government agencies. The attributes are:

· ACCURACY of the data

· UNDERSTANDABILITY of the data

· REASONABLE CONSISTENCY of the data

· SIMPLICITY of the data

· CORRECT USE OF THE TEMPLATE

3. Abstracting
abstract services offering summaries of research papers, theses, reviews, conference papers or any other in -depth analysis on a particular subject or field are also available in the national archive. They provide this service making it easy for customers to do their job well and effectively.

4. Indexing
An index lists numerous topics, such as individuals, locations, businesses, societies, political parties, etc., that may be of interest to scholars. It adds another point of access to the catalogue and enables researchers to search across many collections to uncover pertinent information.

These criteria are used to organise archive indexes:

Subject

Genre

Names (of a person, company, organisation etc)

Places

5. Preservation
The National Archives also provides preservation of valuable materials such as:

· Photographic Materials

· Books & Scrapbooks

· Paper & Parchment

· Family Archives (paper and photographs)

· Digital Media

· Audio, Video & Motion Picture Film

· Paper & Parchment

Circulation
Circulation is carried out at the National Archives to Inform consumers about the availability of products, reminding unfinished business. The National Archives provides member registration to customers and also provides customer service to borrow books or materials at the library.

3. Fee based service
The National Archives only provides a few services. The National Archives must charge for certain of their public services, such as record-copying and research because they are a government agency. The Public Records Act (1958) established the fees the National Archives must charge for a number of its services, and these fees are predicated on recovering the expenses of delivering such services.

4. SDI
Dissemination of selected information (SDI) in the national archives will be displayed publicly on their website. This is because in the age of technology it is easier for customers or the public to get information through online. Sending notifications or emails is also a way used by them to disseminate the latest information available in the national archives.

In conclusion, there are benefits in the National Archives of Malaysia. We can no longer deny that the National Archives gives many advantages to Malaysia.
Moreover, the existence of ancient records can be evidence, allowing us to learn more about our past and discover previously unexplored information. The lack of government funds to purchase large -scale records is thought of in today’s archives. With that, the archive received a proposal to make an annual purchase at the expense of the manager. Getting this approach takes a lot of time. Natural disasters and improper handling can put purchased commodities at risk of loss and damage. The national archives should be improved with substantial funding from the government so that scholars can undertake the study of the next generation.

1. ACQUISITION
The Collection Development Policy establishes an overall structure for the Library's collection of Australian and international materials.

a. The Library obtains materials mostly through lawful deposit and purchase (direct from publishers or through library suppliers).
b. The Library receives copies of all works produced in Australia under legal deposit, which includes books, journals, maps, newspapers, and printed music.
c. Unpublished Australian resources such as manuscripts and photographs are purchased or donated, and oral history recordings are commissioned for the collection.

2.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, also known as the Met, is New York City's biggest and most extensive art museum. Founded in 1870, the museum was open for business two years later. In 1880, construction began on the present-day Central Park complex. Richard Morris Hunt constructed the main structure facing Fifth Avenue in 1902, and it was renamed "The Met Fifth Avenue" in 2016. Certain subsequent extensions were planned by McKim, Mead, and White.

This first museum in the United States was created in 1870 by a group of Americans, including businesspeople, bankers and notable artists and philosophers of their day. In 1870, three private European collections totaling 174 paintings were donated to the Metropolitan Museum, starting the Museum's own painting collection. To the fine Dutch and Flemish paintings by Hals and Van Dyck, famous European painters like Poussin, Tiepolo, and Guardi have been included.

For the remainder of the 19th century, the Museum's holdings continued to increase. For example, after John Kensett's death, the Museum received 38 of his paintings. However, the Museum's ascension to the status of one of the world's foremost art centres can be traced exclusively to the 20th century. Here are a few of the high points: The Metropolitan Museum of Art was the first public institution to accept works by Matisse in 1910. By 1979, the Museum owned five of the less than 40 known Vermeers. The Department of Greek and Roman Art now oversees thousands of objects, including one of the finest glass collections in the world. The Department of Ancient and Medieval Art now oversees thousands of objects, including one of the finest collections of ancient and mediaeval art in the world. From the American Wing to the Egyptian Wing to the Islamic Wing and so on, there are 17 curatorial divisions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and each of them has an impressive collection of art, sculpture and decorative arts.

The Robert Lehman Wing, which opened in 1975, has an amazing collection of Old Masters and Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art. The Temple of Dendur, which was installed in the Sackler Wing in 1978, is an Egyptian monument that was given to the United States by Egypt. The American Wing, which opened in 1980, has 24 period rooms that give visitors a unique look at American history.Despite the fact that the new building has been completed, the Metropolitan Museum is still reorganising and refining its current holdings. Completed a "museum inside a museum" dedicated to Asian art in June 1998, the Arts of Korea display was unveiled. The refurbished Ancient Near Eastern Galleries reopened in October of that year. There is also an ongoing repair and reorganisation of the Greek and Roman Galleries, which began in 1996 with the Robert and Renée Belfer Court for early Greek art; the New Greek Galleries opened in April 1999; and the Cypriot Galleries will open in April 2000.

Recently, there are now more than 5,000 years worth of art from throughout the globe on display at New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art. Since its inception in 1870, the Metropolitan Museum of Art has aimed to be more than just a collection of priceless artefacts. Throughout the Museum's galleries, exhibits, and events, art is brought to life, shedding light on new ideas and connections across time and cultures.

Exhibitions and Collections

In order to run the year-round exhibition programme at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Andrea Bayer, the Deputy Director of Exhibitions and Collections is necessary to provide creative leadership and administration. Long-term exhibition planning, the production or curation of exhibitions and their accompanying materials and contracting with exhibitors are all included in this. A traveling exhibition programme and presenting artists are also within her purview. In order to guarantee that all exhibits and projects are completed within established budgets and timeframes, Andrea Bayer must negotiate loans and contracts with museums, private collections, artists, and lenders from across the world.

Curator

Curators are responsible for managing and overseeing collections for a specific exhibit, gallery, or section of a museum. While the needs and demands of a curator vary depending on the size of a museum, lead curators can be expected to plan and organize exhibits, seek funding, promote their ideas in board meetings, initiate community involvement, and review display items in their designated area of authority. In The Met, they have almost 14 curators for each department or section, for example, Medill Higgins Harvey, Curator of American Decorative Arts and Manager where she oversees the collections of American silver, jewelry, and other metalwork, as well as mid-19th-century furniture. Next, Stephanie Herdrich, curator of American paintings and sculptures who focuses on late 19th-century American paintings and drawings.

Exhibit designer

The Met's Deputy Director for Exhibitions, Quincy Houghton, is responsible for overseeing the installation of the museum's encyclopedic collection, as well as overseeing the museum's foreign efforts. She is the creative and inventive mind behind an exhibition. Quincy and her team will give life to artwork, artifacts, and the museum’s most treasured items by creating new and exciting exhibits. She will supervise and mentor the employees in the department of exhibits and collections. Her job is required to work closely with curators in order develop plans for future exhibitions. Because curators work closely with the marketing team and other directors, they can instruct and guide designers on the long-term goals of the museum and begin to coalesce ideas on future exhibits. As a final step, be in charge of exhibition design and gallery administration, adhering to stringent deadlines and showing initiative while doing so.

External Affairs

Kenneth Weine is chosen to lead the External Affairs and Chief Communications Officer, where he will lead initiatives to build and execute brand, strengthen marketing and communications, foster strategic partnerships, and expand relationships with policymakers, industry leaders, and other influencers and stakeholders of MET. The job is important to achieving the purpose of the Metropolitan Museum of Art as they implement their strategic strategy aimed at redefining financial museums.
