Brief Description- Set of economic and social improvements proposed by Harry Truman in 1949. The goal of the program was to provide and help all Americans with establishing a federal minimum wage, expanding Social Security and public housing, and prohibiting child labor.

How it Changed - It set the foundation for helping the U.S. economy change from a war fighting economy to a peaceful economy. Expanded the role of the fed gov and it helped set in motion the Civil Rights Movement.

How it Changed- Major step in involving the fed gov in ensuring the civil rights for all Americans. shifted power from the states to the fed and also gave the fed gov power to enforce the act and to look into problems involving discrimination.

Brief Description- Confirmed or protected the voting rights of all Americans, especially African Americans which was established under the 14th and 15th amendments by prohibiting local, state, and federal governments from enacting any law that restricted voting rights based on race, ethnicity, or language.

How it Changed- The act took away power from state and local officials and gave the power to the fed gov. The act outlawed literacy tests and other obstacles were eliminated while it gave power to fed to rule over places with patterns of discrimination.

(1990) Americans with Disabilities Act
