The government has now gained almost total control on what the citizens see in the media. Because of this, people fear that the government will try and reach into peoples' private thoughts and actions, through brain washing.

Anthem- The book 1984 remind me of the novel we read last year for school, which is Anthem by Ayn Rand. In both of the books, the government has total control and had brainwashed that community. They also both have strict laws on relationships and are always being monitored. In both of them, there is a love interest where they rebel against the government together.

I liked that the novel was about a totalitarian government because it is entertaining to see what someone else think the future will be like and how the government will continue to control our lives. The strange morals are interesting and can really surprise you.

I didn't really like how the book didn't have much of a story line. It seemed to be a lot of background and description, rather than current events that were happening in the book. I also did not like the ending because it was so unsatisfying.

I defiantly recommend reading 1984, because it is entertaining, different and makes you think. I think it's a god read because it shows something that is so unlike our world right now. It is also refreshing to get a love story that isn't cheesy or something that you'd see in a chick flick.
