EFFECTS OF ADAB IN SEEKING KNOWLEDGE

Islamic manners and discipline positively affects human life when seeking knowledge. It shows that respectful learning gives value to knowledge, shapes good character, and brings blessings. A person who learns with adab becomes humble, sincere, and wise, and can inspire others in the community. Adab also helps build strong relationships with teachers and peers, guides ethical actions in daily life, and ensures that the knowledge gained is beneficial and long-lasting. A verse from Surah Az-Zumar (39:9) supports the idea that those who have knowledge are not equal to those who do not.

These Usrah sessions gave me a moment to slow down and really think about my role as a Muslim. Listening to our naqibah speak about being Ibad Allah reminded me that worship is not just about rituals but about living with sincerity in everything I do.

When she talked about Khalifah, I felt a sense of responsibility that goes beyond myself. It made me reflect on how my choices affect others and how I can be more mindful in carrying that trust.

The reminder about Khayr al-Ummah made me question whether I am contributing anything meaningful to the people around me. Ummatan Wasaṭan taught me that balance is not just a concept but something I need to actively practice in my daily life. I left the session feeling more aware of who I am and more motivated to grow into the person Allah wants me to be.

I really appreciated the Usrah session and the way our naqibah shared her insights. One improvement I would suggest is to include a short interactive segment, maybe a reflection question or small group sharing at the end. I think it would help us connect the lessons to our personal experiences and make the session feel more engaging. Even if we don’t speak much, having that space to reflect together could deepen our understanding and strengthen our bond as a group.

Reading about the Pillars of Islam made me see how each one shapes a Muslim’s life from the inside out. Shahadah reminds me of who I truly serve. Salah keeps my heart connected to Allah no matter how busy I get. Zakah teaches me to give, not just money, but care. Sawm builds strength and empathy. And Ḥajj shows that we’re all equal in front of Allah. Simple acts, but they carry deep meaning. It’s simple, but deep and it makes me want to live with more purpose.

From the Pillars of Iman, I understand that being a Muslim isn’t just about what we do, but what we truly believe deep inside. It’s about trusting Allah’s plan, knowing angels are always around, and believing that everything we do will be judged one day. These six pillars shape how we see the world and remind us that our faith is more than just words; it’s a mindset, a way of life.

Learning about Salah with khushu‘ made me see prayer in a deeper way. It is not only about the movements but about the presence of my heart and mind before Allah. The verse in Surah al-Mu’minun reminded me that true success belongs to those who humble themselves in their prayers, and that humility is something I need to carry into my daily life.

I realized that submission teaches me discipline and loyalty to Allah. Striving against laziness in prayer is a form of inner struggle that strengthens me for challenges outside of prayer. Self-reflection during Ṣalāh allows me to check my intentions and recognize my shortcomings, reminding me that I must always be aware of what I present before Allah.

Modesty and self-restraint are shaped through prayer, guiding me to guard myself from sinful acts. Humility is felt most strongly in sujud, where I acknowledge my dependence on Allah and let go of pride.

The most important lesson for me is that khushu‘ gives life to Salah. It is not something I simply perform but something that transforms me. When I carry the sincerity, discipline, and humility from prayer into my actions, my whole life becomes worship.
