Tim Burton made a very evident point about conformity. This is clearly shown by the way the houses are the same and how everyone dresses similar. Edward is clearly different in how he is set apart from the stereotypical 60's looks. When he is brought into Suburbia, everyone gives him strange looks because he is different.

Tim Burton is trying to stay about stya at home wives is since all they do is stya at home they need something to talk about and when they see Joyce with another man in her car that is all the buzz. the whole neighborhood meets at the corner to talk about it and once their husbands come home they all go back to their houses like normal wives.

We thought that the movie was somewhat odd, but we enjoy the message that Tim Burton is trying to make. He also infers that in the world portrayed in the film is used to conformity and things being the same. Everything seems awkwardly normal, everyone lives in the same style of house, and we feel like Edward will break this conformity

the idea of a cookie cutter suburbia is very prominent in this movie. all the houses, though different colors, are exactly the same. all the husbands come home from work at the same time. it helps to exaggerate Edwards introduction into the neighborhood. everyone is content with living their lives, every day exactly the same. so, when someone new enters, especially someone as different as Edward, everyone wants to know about it.

I think its interesting because tim burton shows how everyone is pretty much the same in this town and outsiders are ripped apart by the mean housewives who gossip to each other so placing someone as different as edward into this environment seems toxic but for a while it actually works because he is able to impress people by cutting hair and the bushes.
