My groups musical element was the creation and development of artificial music such as synthesizers. Our essay talks about the development of these musical devices and how they have completely changed the music industry and how music was even created. Bands used to have to all stand in the same recording studio and take multiple takes all together to finally get the final version of a song recorded. Now in today's society, with the technological music advancements that have been made each member of a band can record separately and each layer of the song can be pieced together in post production. These musical advancements have completely changed the way music is created as well as how it even sounds. Most music you hear on the radio with any sort of background drums, or beats are all artificially created with no one ever actually going into a studio to create these sounds.

One musical example from our essay was "Buy U A Drank" by T-Pain ft. Kanye West. We argued that this song is a perfect representation of these advancements in musical technology completely influencing music as a whole. Both T-Pain and Kanye West were some of the first artists to really stat using autotune to its full potential with T-Pain only ever singing with it. T-Pain was able to build a major fan base considering the fact that he was never actually singing, his voice was artificially modified to hit every single note just perfectly, but society saw it as something different and immediately fell in love with it. Another example is "Heartless" By Kanye West, another song entirely sung using autotune. Both these examples perfectly show how the music industry completely changed due to these technological advancements. Now artists, who really weren't known for their singing abilities were being praised for the melodic chorus's and catchy tunes.

My favorite/more personal facets of our essay and argument were honestly just the examples we used. For example we used "Buy U A Drank" by T-Pain and "Heartless" by Kanye West. Both of these songs strike deeply with me as I can remember growing up listening to these songs, and these two both being some of the first rap songs I ever listened to. I also can remember prior to these songs really growing up on classic rock and some of the 90's punk rock my parents always listened to. So I guess you could say I was one of those people who heard these songs sung in autotune and not only thought it was weird and different but began to really enjoy it. These songs are really personal to because not only do they remind me of when I was younger but they bring me back to my origins of listening to my favorite genre of music, rap and hip-hop.
