Body of Lies is the story of a retired journalist, Roger Ferris, who is now a CIA member chasing a terrorist leader based in Jordania. With the help of his buddy, Ed Hoffman, Ferris will lead many operation in order to take down this terrorist, named Al-Saleem. In Jordania, he has the help of Mr. Hani Salaam , the head of the jordanian's secret services. While Ferris is risking his life and his partner's, Hoffman is pulling strings from his mansion in Washington D.C.

First of all, this movie is rated at 62% by rotten tomatoes, so i thought it'll be a bad movie. I was surprised then. The movie pictures and layouts are beautiful and the casting is chosen wisely. I really liked how Ferris is written. First, when he lost his teammate Bassam, we feel the pain he's bearing even thought he didn't cried. He kept a piece of Bassam bone with him, to remember his fallen comrade. A comrade he lost in the war, because, let's say it, it's a true war opposing U.S government to middle-east terrorists organizations. Ferris, even if he is participating to this war, really want it to stop. For his buddy Ed, it's a different story. Even if Mr Hoffman is wrote in a way that should make him guilty, I did like his behaviour, his way of thinking. He is the cliche of the boss who wants to control everything, without paying attention to his pawns or the casualties of his action. He is cold blooded and talk to his agent (Ferris who is in an impotant mission) while driving his children to school. He is not a lovely person, but he is the incarnation of the catchphrase "the end justifies the means". But, even if he is leading heavy researches to find Al-Saleem, he still can't find him. Wich lead us to Mr. Salaam, a brilliant and powerful person. He also thinks that end justifies means, because he is willing to let Ferris die in order to catch Al-Saleem, even if he likes him a lot. He is as clever as Hoffman, but unlike him, he is in the field everyday and knows exactly how Al-Qaïda works. He is trustworthy but hate being lied to. Overall, the movie is well done; the story board is wonderful, the action scene are very realistic. The only issue that i got is that the moovie is too hard to understand at some points, and even if the overall story is great, some details don't really make sense. This is, i think, the reason why it got such a bad rating. 

In my opinion, wether or not the director wants to put diversity in his movie is a choice that concern him, as long as it's in agreement with historical facts. For exemples, in a european medieval movie, asian and black people shouldn't be represented, because the world was not as diverse as it is today. Furthermore, I don't think a movie must represent every single religion, race, or gender. As long as the movie is pleasant to watch, I'm fine with the casting. Body of Lies is diverse enough, because it fit the historical and geographical situation that they wanted to show. In the streets, we see jordanian people and most of them are muslims, and in the american side, we can see many ethnicities. White people, black people, asian people and much more. It describes the real world situation, so in my opinion the movie is diverse enough.
