Obesity is a really big problem in middle childhood. It can really damage and harm the body in a variety of ways. Children growing up who have obesity are more likely to have high blood pressure and high cholesterol, which are huge risk factors for cardiovascular disease. It can also affect their social life, and their self esteem because they don’t think they are good enough. It can be an issue in a child’s life because they won’t be as social as the other kids or have confidence in themselves. It can cause bad academic practices and such. Something to consider is if your child has a little extra weight on them, it doesn’t mean that they are overweight. It can vary on the child on how they carry their weight. Some children might have more weight than others, which doesn't mean that they are overweight. Remember to improve their eating habits and try family exercising.

Dyslexia is a specific learning disability that is neurological in origin, with an estimated overall worldwide prevalence of 5-10% of the population. It is characterized by difficulties in reading, accuracy, fluency, spelling and decoding abilities. The majority of publications reviewed indicated that screening is performed at the preschool level. Screening can also be conducted at birth or the first year of life. Understanding human development theory, for example, Piaget’s human development theory may help determine dyslexia. It is an issue in middle childhood development because dyslexia can scramble the way you read and you wouldn’t be able to read like everyone else. It is something that affects you long term.
