There historical accuracy of this movie is pretty on point with the actual events. In most historical recreations in movies, things like buildings, landscapes, and overall aesthetic of a time period and this movie fits all of these criteria. The opening scene of the movie is almost a complete recreation of the photos seen the day of the taking of the hostages in Iran. This film takes place in 1979-1981 and the visuals in this film is very accurate to fit the genre of historical drama.

The norm of bringing historical figures to life to enact the events whether it be embellished or not in a historical drama. In Argo I think they did a great job of recreating the real people who escaped. Almost every character resembles their real life counterpart and that fits the historical aspect of the genre. This film is based in the late 70's and early 80's, their costumes and their hair all gives that seventies feel to them and it helps immerse us in the film. Not only the main cast but the other characters like John Chambers is another character who looks exactly like John Goodman. The moustaches and hair dues give away that it takes place in the seventies and that's a great aspect of how Argo recreates characters.

The iconagraphy of the film fits in a hirstorical drama pretty well because you see things like Iranians breaking down the doors of the embassy, burning american flag, fire smoke and teargas. Things like cigarettes are really a symbol of the time period in this movie and while you watch because of the icongraphy of this movie you can get into the historical aspect of Argo.

The environment around the characters are very tense and unsafe feelin throughout the film. The people of Iran are very angry, hostages have been taken and there looking for the six that escaped. The evacuation and attempt of getting the six out is very scary and nerve racking and Argo does a great job of making the scene thrilling.

Instead of being a single character being the sole victim, there are seven of them. The typical characters of a thriller dont fit in Argo because these are real, everyday people that got caught up in qaos of iran, there not the action heroes.

Argo doesnt fit the typical thriller iconography where there are bombs, ropea, gags, or blood. There isnt dark rooms with flickry lightbulbs you usually would see. Its more of a real life situation while yes the movie has a lot of thirlling moment, I dont think the category of iconography fits the thriller genere.

The Iranian hostage crisis was a big event that took place when they seized the embassy and detained more than 50 Americans and held them for over 444 days. This movie did a good job recreating the events and for the most part were very historically accurate to the actial events that took place. It fits the historical genere becase it stayed accurate to the acual events and only embellished in the ending scene.

The usual plot of a thriller movie is action packed with guns, explosions, and big acts of violence. But in this movie is was very minimal violence other than the events at the beginning. This movie isnt really about the violence its more about the action of getting the six out safely, but there wasnt a big car chase or shootout scene.

The genere of thriller fits very well into this movie with the mood always being very on edge and nerve racking. It fits in very well with the fear of being trapped, not only in the embassy but being trapped in Iran itself and its very apparent on the faces of the characters and the severity of the suits in washington.

Its apparent that this event was an important event in American/Iran history. The mood of that time was very dull and low morale. It portrayed this perfectly in the movie placing a roadblock in the path of U.S.-Iranian relations like it did in the actual events that took place.

This movie had multiple scenes of real news clips of the time of the event. They had accurate recreations of the characters and their fake counterparts. As well as Iran itself, they did a good job recreating the architecture, clothes, and Iranian people for this film.

Argo doenst fit the category of cinematic style because the movie is very open and bright showing everything around them. Compared to other thrillers that rely on close-ups and dark shadows to show danger or impending doom. They use the large open set to show the Americans and the danger there currently in, its all around them now hiding in the shadows.

I think the overall message of Argo is to show the anger of the Iranian Revolution and its long-standing support of the Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. The anger and the reasons why the hostages were taken in the first place. But not only the side of the Iranians, but the American government/people's reaction to the events. The interesting, unorthodox method of rescuing the six people stuck in Iran is the biggest part of the movie and shows the process of evacuating these six people and the dedication of tony mendez and the six people trapped in the Canadian embassy.
