Furthermore, both of these words have multiple definitions in German. The weirdest part is that even though heimlich and unheimlich seem to be opposites, they are occasionally used to mean the same thing. This is part of why the term is so hard to pin down. In order to clarify and make our own connections to the Germans terms heimlich & unheimlich, we are going to make some visuals! Find your name under one of the definitions, and look at the English words in that category. Brainstorm: what do you think of when you hear these words? What do they mean to you? You might make a brainstorm list of experiences, cultural references, books, movies, synonyms, etc. Them, decide on a design to present your brainstorm. You might make a concept map or one pager with images and words. Take your time, and think outside the box! Once you've finished your image, post a photo or screenshot of it under the appropriate definition!
