Why is this important for my course?

For students studying Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Science, knowing about carbohydrates helps in making and improving medicines and beauty products. Many ingredients in these products come from or work with sugars; glycolipids and glycoproteins help keep skin moist and healthy, while knowing about simple and complex sugars helps make better, more active products. Understanding how sugars are built and how they work allows for creativity and better results when making new products.

Click on the image above to download and read some notes on this topic.

Or you may prefer to watch this 8 minute video from Mr Exham Biology.

Why is this important for my course?

Lipids are key in making products like creams, ointments, and pills. For example, phospholipids help carry active ingredients into the body. Understanding how triglycerides and cholesterol work helps students design safe and effective products for use on the skin, hair, or inside the body. Lipid knowledge helps solve problems and create better medicines and cosmetics.

Click on the image above to download and read some notes on this topic.

Or you may prefer to watch this 7 minute video from PXSBiology.
