Easter time with its customs is unique, its traditional dances and songs are beautiful, its houses, being amphitheatrically built, add their own touch to the beauty of the island. Its lanes as well as its harbours are suitable for walks. Admire all sizes and shapes of fishing boats, recreational boats and in general the marine force of the island which is remarkable. Enjoy them.

Admire its wild and steep mountains with their chiseled rocks which are appropriate for climbing and if you are lucky you may attend the climbing festival in which climbers from all over world take part. In the existing caves, which not all of them can be visited, you can marvel stalactites and stalagmites. The mountains of Kalymnos are full of herbs and thyme thanks to which the kalymnian honey is excellent in taste.

You must try it. There is also the possibility of diving for pleasure to observe and admire the magic, deep-sea world. Attend the annual diving festival.

In the monasteries of Kalymnos, such as the ones of St. Savvas, St. Panteleimon, St. Ekaterini, of Holly Cross, of Kyra-Psili, of Panagia Hosti you will pay your respects and calm your soul. If in case you find yourself in any festival, you will get to know and enjoy the  Kalymnian  feasts.

The castles of Chora and Chrysocheria, the temple of Christ of Jerusalem, the archaeological and nautical museums, Vouvali’s mansion, the Kalymnian house , the Museum of Marine Findings (Valsamidi) are places one can visit and admire their remarkable exhibits.

In the folklore museum you can see the traditional, kalymnian costumes (kalymniko, kavadi, vraka) the musical instruments (the backpipes, the violin), embroidery, the loom and its products such as hramia, rugs and many more.

Dive in the crystal clear waters of Kalymnos and enjoy your swim at the small but clean beaches like: Massouri, Skalia, Emporio and many more.

Do not fail to visit Telendos, a picturesque, little island,  which was once united to Kalymnos and was parted from it after an earthquake. Take a picture of its scenic sunset. You can go on a short trip to the neighbouring  Pserimos island too.

Kalymnos, the island of sponge divers, is located in the Aegean Sea and belongs to the Dodecanese cluster of islands. It’s small and barren but its inhabitants are hospitable and remarkable, since they have achieved to survive on such a dry rock.
