A center is a collection of material designed with a goal in mind.

Students work with center materials to develop, create, and learn a task at their own pace.

You can group the students randomly or by their ability level.

These can be assessed in a variety of different ways. One is by having a checklist. The teacher can walk around and monitor the students. Some of the things on the checklist may include stays on task, listens to others, communicates appropriately, etc

Some of those ideas are interview someone, create a role-play, compose a rap, create an experiment, create a cartoon, work with a partner, and make a plan.
