Interactivity: this discusses how important it is for technology to be interactive. Technology such as games, role playing and interaction helps students to retain more knowledge

Adaptivity: this technology presents information based off the behavior and characteristics of the learner. Intelligent adaptive learning learns how to adapt based of the learners actions

Feedback: the technology gives feeback to the learner so that they may improve

Choice: this gives students the option of what they wanna learn and how they want to learn. this helps to regulate their learning on their own because students begin to self regulate

Nonlinear Access: this allows students to not have to necessarily learn topics in order but rather what the learner chooses to learn about first (ex wikepedia: students can visit hyperlinks to watch video and then go back)

Linked representations: This provides quick connections between different topics that cover various viewpoints. This can be through texts, diagrams, videos, or interactive simulations.

Open ended learner input: this allows learners to express themselves through more creative casual ways such as open ended communication, drawing pictures, etc

communication with other people: this allows for the learner to communicate with more people, who can be peers but also expand to field experts. this can happen in zoom, email, tutors, etc

3. What is Learning Through Repetition, Deeper Learning with Models, Collaborative and Cooperative Learning, and Technology-Supported Self-Regulated Learning?

Learning through repetition: There is a series of pictures and two options. Once the person selects their option, they will be met with feedback. This process will continue to help retain content

Deeper learning with models: This is more complex. It focuses on problem solving, reasoning, inferences, and transfer of knowledge to new situations. For example the technology provides multiple perspectives and includes more resources such as functional models of diagrams various perspectives, descriptions of components. This allows students to experiment more, visualize and build on their ideas, not just focused on memorization

Collaborative and cooperative learning: This focuses on having members work together by finding common ground explaining their ideas and understanding their perspectives. But they are both different: Collaborative learning is where group members work together to complete the activities, whereas cooperative learning breaks the task down into different roles. The group mates work separately and then combine their work at the end.

Technology-Supported Self-Regulated Learning: This focuses on having students use technology to build up their self regulated learning strategies. They use strategies such as taking notes, drawing tables, rereading, and making inferences.

5. Justify how learning technology can support instruction.

I believe that learning technology can support instruction through different softwares. There are various platforms that students do not know about but can love if provided the opportunity to engage with them. I am specifically thinking about platforms such as khan academy, artsteps, jeopardy gamesalong with engaging with peers that can experience other cultures. This can help students engage with other cultures and understand peoples perspectives and lifestyles. Not to mention that students can have personalized learning plans, where students can self regulate their own learning.

6. Discuss linking formal and informal learning to improve learners’ outcomes, orchestrating the complexities of instruction in the classroom, and developing students’ writing through interactivity and feedback.

Formal and informal learning can be linked to improve students outcomes because students can connect what they learn on social media, in the classroom. Or vice versa, teachers can find ways for students to connect students social media time to connect to the content they are learning. With orchestrating the complexities of instruction in the classroom, it can be very difficult to target students various needs. It is up to us teachers to work on grouping students together, providing enough time for these students to work on their work, and providing differentiation, where students have a choice on the type of assignment they can work on. This will help the classroom to have a better atmosphere and less stress for the teacher. Finally for developing students writing, having students have low stakes writing for students to help develop their writing skills without feeling the pressure of the grade, can help students grow their confidence. But for certain writing, there should be peer review and teacher review comments to help students understand what they need to work on.

I feel that there are many beneficials such as cultural exposure, creative design with various platforms, self regulated learning etc. But of course there are challenges such as student pushback, confusion, or lack of accessibility. If a student does not want to use the technology, what shouls teachers do? Or worse, students take the technology but use it incorrectly for games or other off tasks. Also certain students may not be as technologically advanced and have the same skills. Finally if students are assigned to work on this at home, what about students who do not have access to wifi or a laptop at home?

I would use padlet to have students discuss the characterization of the characters in the hunger games. I would first have the do now ask "what makes a character complex?" Students will answer and then have a whole group discussion about the answer. Then each Hunger Games character will have their own column and students are prompted to select one quote that the character said or did that made them complex. Students will have to elaborate and then comment on another students analysis whether they agree or disagree with what the other student said
