  •      The 1970s mean two things to many Americans: the Vietnam War and the Watergate scandal. 
  • Both dominated the front pages of every newspaper in the country for a good part of the early '70s. American troops left Vietnam in 1973, but the last Americans there were airlifted off the roof of the American Embassy in April 1975 as Saigon fell to the North Vietnamese.
    •          War:
    •  U.S. and South Vietnamese forces attack communist bases across the Cambodian border in the Cambodian Incursion.
    • President Nixon orders the launch of the most intense air offense of the war in Operation Linebacker. The attacks, concentrated between Hanoi and Haiphong, drop roughly 20,000 tons of bombs over densely populated regions.
    • By the end of the war, more than 58,000 Americans lose their lives. Vietnam would later release estimates that 1.1 million North Vietnamese and Viet Cong fighters were killed, up to 250,000 South Vietnamese soldiers died and more than 2 million civilians were killed on both sides of the war.

Drawing on the discussions on the regulation of outer space, in vitro fertilization and virtual worlds, Kieran Tranter has described a scholarly template which he calls the “law and technology enterprise”.
  •   This template starts off with a technological crisis event – a specific technology that appears to have an uncertain future in that it promises both progress and peril. This starting point, incidentally, meshes nicely with the (Western) mainstream consensus that technological developments have major impacts on society, and entail both problems and opportunities.

Sports in the 1970s were dominated by a select few, but their names ring on sports history forever. Athletes like Hank Aron Muhammad Ali and Mark Spitz  dominated their respective sports in the decade. There were also several sports moments during the decade that still resonate today.
