Every year this celebration takes place to comemorate battles between the Moors and Christians throughout the fifteenth century.

This celebration takes place all over Spain but mostly in the southern velencian community of the country.

This celebration has several different traditions that come with it. For example it's traditional to eat white rice with black beans a reference to the Moors and Spanish skin tone. In this holiday they also have the people celebrating split into two factions (the Moors and the Christians) and have them dress up for the celebration, the Christians wearing armour and chainmail while the Moors will wear tribal attire and they will parade through the city. They also have people dressed up as skeletons and the grim reapers to show how much death took place during these battles. Most of this team will wear facepaint of the skeletal system on them. People will build large and detailed floats and parade down the street.

The reason this celebration takes place is in honour of finally driving out the Islamic people from Northern Africa and conering it for Spain.
