MLK's 1963 "I Have a Dream" speech if retold today would still be relevant. In his speech, MLK made sure to state his dream of equality and fair treatment between all races. He not only wanted to overcome unfair laws against African American people, but to also be treated and seen equally by those around him. We believe that while his dream has not yet been fully fulfilled, he would be more than pleased with the progress America has made today.

*We believe that while his dream has not been fully realised, America has come a long way. Many of the problem that plagued MLK's generation has been tackled and in some cases solved. His words are well remembered today and will continue to heard for generations.

The 1960's unrest was a trying time for all people of color not just blacks. But one man made it his mission to end the segregation between all of it. If he was alive today he might say, that promise of that note has been cashed, the island is no longer surrounded by that vast ocean of prosperity, the ocean has been raised to over take the island, but sometimes the sea will dry up, but never again will that island become as large as it once was, it would now be a tiny speck in that ocean of prosperity.

MLK talked a lot about his dream. If he were alive today he would see that his "dream" has come true, segregation has stopped, black and white are equal to each other constitutionally. But he would not be satisfied with where we are as a country still. In 2020 today we still feel the evils of racial injustice, we feel the evils of not segregation, but separation. Obviously where we are today has been greatly improved from the past, but we believe that America still needs to make major improvements on the treatment and justice of blacks in America.

We believe that if Dr. Martin King Jr was alive today, he would say that his dream of equality and equal opportunities, have come true, but his dream of unity still hasn't completely come true. The issue that we still come to find in America, is that people find a way to put a target on someone's back, but fail to peacefully agree with others. On the idea of being peaceful with others, his ideas of peaceful protesting have been looked over, in favor of burning cars and buildings... but still calling it peaceful.

MLK Had a dream, a dream that a person would not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their heart, he had a dream to end segregation, he had a dream of unity in the American people. If Rev. Martin Luther King were alive today I think he would be sad to see only one of these things has truly come true, that is the end of segregation. The other two still need work, especially now. Racism is general has become less wide spread yet that does not disregard its existence. And we have all seen how unified we all are.

With many things MLK has tried to accomplish there is nothing more memorable than him standing in front of around 250,000 people and telling the country what is to be fixed and what is seen in the future if there weren’t bias on race but in character. This day in age there is still racism and groups that express themselves in a negative light but there is light to all this darkness still roaming in this country. Additonally, MLK didn't just yearn for liberty he strived for equivocal justice amongst a race of people as a whole. His input on the detrimental impact racial segregation has caused, has allowed others to understand and grasp the sense of reality not only around them but within them as well. He not only moved the souls of the oppressed he also called for a change of heart from the oppressors. His thoughts and hopes for basic civil liberties is still a journey currently prolonging itself in todays society.

We believe that if Martin Luther King Jr. was still alive today, he would be disappointed because although we've made some progress, we should definitely be further along as a country. We feel as if MLK's dream hasn't come true completely because people of color continue to be judged based on inappropriate criteria such as skin color instead of skill or level of education. Innocent black children, women, and men are losing their lives to the hands of police forces and court systems that use their authority and power to justify their hatred towards minoritized groups. In order for African Americans and other minoritized races to even begin to fight against unfair treatment, we need to first come together as one instead of discouraging and killing each other.
