This freezing and barren environment makes survival hard for anyone and anything, except for the animals that have grown and adapted to the environment.

 

Systems = Integumentary and Circulatory 


I chose these systems because when I thought about Arctic Tundra and how the cold effects humans, I thought about skin, hair, and blood flow.

This creature combines the intensely vital system changes of the arctic fox's circulatory system and the polar bear’s integumentary system.  It has a highly specialized counter-current heat exchange system in its feet, legs, and arms that allows it to maintain its core body temperature while preventing its extremities from freezing. It also has an integumentary system that consists of a two-layered fur coat of colorless, hollow hairs, a layer of insulating black skin, and a semi-thick layer of subcutaneous blubber. Its tall and sizeable body, along with outward colors that help it camouflauge against the snow and ice, make it a strong creature that can hunt like a bear, run and hide like a fox, and make itself known as not only a predatory creature, but a smart and cunning developed specimen like that of a human.

    • Based on what you have learned in this course about body systems, what seemed accurate and what was missing or oversimplified?  

    • Use this opportunity to apply your understanding of how body systems really work, especially in extreme environments, and how well the AI supported your learning. 

    1. I would not change a thing. Copilot gave me exactly what I asked for, although I did change the creature's appearance to make it more fox-like. 

    1. The systems' functions were accurate as far as their necessity and vitality in the survival of arctic creatures. However, it was quite simplified in talking about their functions. For this, i needed a more detailed explanation, so I had to do my own research for each animal. 

    1. Copilot gave me a really good creature. All-in-all, it was exactly what I asked for. I asked it to present me an image of a hybrid between three different things, and it presented them well. Its explanation of systems was heavily simplified, but other than that, it did well.
