El Niño is the periodic (a few months) warming of the sea water in the Pacific ocean meaning there is more energy for storms to form. El Nino also affects wind. El Nino is also known as the ENSO. The ENSO cycle is a scientific term that describes the changes in temperature between the ocean and atmosphere in the east-central Equatorial Pacific. Effects include: Storms, warming of water in the Pacific Ocean, Wind changing, and more. Countries affected by El Nino: Central America, Mostly Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, along with Haiti and south east Brazil have recorded below average rainfall this year, while heavy rains have caused flooding in parts of Argentina, Guatemala and Peru. - Amaan
