Cons/drawbacks- not getting a trophy shows that it takes a while to get good at something and shows that its okay to not be the best at everything or to get first place. The cons of a participation trophy rely of false accomplishment. Getting a trophy for something they didn't deserve can do more harm than good. Participation trophies can often lack meaning due to knowing you didn't earn it and others have the same exact award too.

Pros/Benefits- Can be given to less talented athletes to feel accomplishment. A participation Trophy can increase a child's' self esteem. Believe that children deserve recognition of their participation of time and effort. Believe that there is nothing wrong with awarding children for participation

Cons/drawbacks- not giving kids participation trophies will teach them that they need to work hard and be determined to be the best at what they do. It takes time to get better at something, and kids need to learn that although trying or participating is a good thing, they need to do better. Not getting a participation trophy could motivate kids to strive to get better.

One of the cons is that kids aren't learning that it is ok to lose sometimes. It kind of sends the message that in life you'll always get a "trophy" even if you weren't the best. I feel like it also takes away from the special of getting an actual trophy. One pros is that kids see that there getting awarded for hard work and they wont feel felt out as much.

Cons/drawbacks- Gives kids the idea of always getting a reward no matter how good they do, when later in life they will have to realize that not everyone gets a participation trophy for everything. They also can limit competitiveness and lead to a wrong idea of accomplishing something when nothing was really done. They also show that hard work really doesn't matter because everyone will win something.

Cons or drawbacks of participation trophies: These "rewards" influence kids that even if they did not try their best to succeed, there will still always be some type of recognition that comes out of it. This can eventually relate to similar future instinces when a specific person may be doing a non-efficient job in the workplace, they could expect to receive some kind of promotion in return.

The cons of participation trophies and a society that over nurtures children are numerous. Lets start small with participation trophies. They teach kids that losing is OK, which is not true. Losing is the greatest motivation for improvement, and giving kids trophies for showing up just teaches them you don't have to try to be rewarded. Which can damage kids extremely. This goes into a deeper problem with society, everyone telling children that they are special snowflakes just for being born is also very damaging to children and society as a whole. kids have to know that they have to try in life to be something special, and work to become great.

One of the main arguments that really hold up the entire pro section of the entire debate is that participation trophies can help boost children's / people's self-esteem. Which is a very valid point to be had and can prevent issues in the future such as inferiority or martyr complexes. Both of which can greatly hinder a child's future goals and ideals.

The main con of the entire debate is that it creates lower standards for kids and then they become entitled. Giving them trophies for everything at an early age creates the sense of entitlement for everything they participate in, and whilst this can be true, it really would only happen if they were given a trophy for a large majority of things they've done. However, the main cause of entitlement would be the parents keeping an entitled attitude. All in all, these participation trophies can be a good thing, but of course, they need to be had in moderation to stay effective.
