The Tao of Liberation: Exploring the Ecology of TransformationThis reading made me realize many things about what is really going on in the world nowadays, one example of this is the extreme damage we are causing to our planet and to ourselves. Many people don’t realize that poverty is increasing and so is ecological destruction, others just decide to ignore the problem saying they can do nothing about it and I think the real problem lies there. We need to change our way of thinking, we need to change our vision and how we live, because we still have the opportunity to awaken humanity and change this situation.

Thinking Systems: I was very surprised by the way systems affect our lives and their complexity, it is a topic that I don't usually think about, and many people don’t either. It is important to know that systems define our life and the outcome in things and we need to start to realize that maybe we are the ones responsible for a system failure and stop blaming the system itself because we can do something about it by analyzing its interconnections, the stock, the inflow and outflow and check for any feedback loops. I feel that this topic is very important for a future architect as myself, because the way I design buildings and houses can affect systems and peoples lives so I have to start identifying these systems to design better and have positive results.

Living Systems principles: As a designer and architect now after reading this I realize that I have to understand more the way natural and living systems work in order to work in a creative and sustainable way that would not affect the environment. Living systems are so complex that when they go out of control for some reason they tend to fix themselves, but when human activity is produced in such a way that it damages the environment, then nature can no longer compensate. Designers have to start understanding that we can no longer design with the way of thinking that one size fits all, we have to start seeing things as whole, understand them and create new ways that can properly adapt to the environment.

Transition Design: This reading, just like the reading of “Living Systems Principles”, explains how our daily decisions and actions affect the sustainability and the systems in which we interact. It made me reflect even more on our duty as architects and how sometimes we think of fast solutions and not in long term solutions for society and the environment like transition design. Another thing I thought when reading this, is that the idea of solutions that many people have is wrong, the solutions lie on the design of a system to create new opportunities without affecting anyone, this made me realize that we often concentrate more on the material side of things than their function and we refuse to see that the real objective of designing is to create opportunities and enable activities rather than destroying them.

Tackling Wicked problems:
My reflection about wicked problems is that it made me realize that they are interconnected to systems, and that sometimes we tend to look for fast solutions instead of analyzing the possible solutions and the different strategies that can be applied to a wicked problem. The reading talks about stakeholders and it made me think that we as architects have to act as stakeholders and have better solutions for the future to avoid wicked problems that then interconnect with each other, we have to have the vision to be able to see the big picture and I think that we as architects are responsible for solving many problems as quality of life for people, sustainable ways of living, climate change and many other problems that can be interconnected to these main problems.

In my opinion the 17 goals that the UN presents are very important for the future of the world and lead to a better future. Each and every one of these goals are part of a system that is interconnected and also each and every goal is very specific and complex, and because of thi thay can also be seen as wicked problems. A clear example of the interconnection of these goals is the quality education goal, because if people don’t receive education they might not be able to get a decent work, which is another goal and if they don’t have a decent work they would become poor, that interconnects with the poverty goal, and if they are poor then maybe they won't have enough resources to get food so then it would also be interconnected with the hunger goal and so on.
