Has research been taught in earlier grades?

I chose question 1 because I need to analyze all resources available before I teach a lesson. There are resources in the TE, online and people. I have never taught research to third graders before and need many ideas and more ideas after the first ideas do not work.
I chose question 2 because many students have not searched online before. Teaching effective search terms is a difficult concept.
I chose question 3 because it is important that I assess prior knowledge before I begin teaching. I may have to significantly adjust my instruction based on what students learned last year.

I liked getting other people's input, although I did not get much input on my question. Maybe it needed to be more intriguing. I like the idea of using padlet in my classroom because it is similar to having students write their ideas on sticky notes. I like that you can sort the notes and comment on them. I think it would be fun for students to use the padlet like a KWL chart. They could write questions and then comment the results of their research. I wonder if the format would be
distracting for third graders. I could see them using the notes to play instead of organizing their ideas. I also like the idea of using QFT on paper with sticky notes. Each of our ELA units has a focus and students are supposed to generate questions. I like the idea of students having to organize and catergorize their questions.
