This idea is crucial since Japan could use it as a propaganda in order to proof discrimination against Japan which was a great reason to cause indignation to the military and citizens.

Japan's armed forces initially achieved large-scale military successes during the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–1945) and the Pacific War. However, after many Allied victories and following the Soviet Union's declaration of war against Japan on August 9, 1945, and subsequent invasion of Manchuria and other territories, and the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Empire surrendered to the Allies on August 15, 1945. A period of occupation by the Allies followed. In 1947, with American involvement, a new constitution was enacted, officially bringing the Empire of Japan to an end. Occupation and reconstruction continued until 1952, eventually forming the current constitutional monarchy known as Japan.

In addition, Japan needed increasingly more natural resources to support its industrial growth. Although Japan was able to invade Manchuria, Dutch East Indies, Indochina, etc. At the end, United States occupied part of the territories of Japan and even the Soviet Union kept some islands which is what usually occurs for the country that looses the war. There is also the huge lost due to the atomic bombs sent by United States in order to attack the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the ones that set an end to the war and also with the lifes of lots of military and even citizens, plus the fact that the territory kept radioactive for several years. In addition, there is the damage of military equipments and armaments in addition to the debts they get in order to repair all of the damages caused during the war.

In the 1920s and 1930s, the Japanese Empire’s main economic problem was the lack of sufficient raw materials. Japan needed to import raw materials such as iron, rubber, and oil to maintain strong economic growth. The Japanese felt that acquiring resource-rich territories would establish economic self-sufficiency and independence, and they also hoped to jump-start the nation’s economy in the midst of the Great Depression. As a result, Japan set its sights on East Asia, specifically Manchuria, with its many resources.

After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Japan achieved a long series of military successes. In December 1941, Guam, Wake Island, and Hong Kong fell to the Japanese, followed in the first half of 1942 by the Philippines, the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia), Malaya, Singapore, and Burma. Japanese troops also invaded neutral Thailand and pressured its leaders to declare war on the United States and Great Britain. Only in mid-1942 were Australian and New Zealander forces in New Guinea and British forces in India able to halt the Japanese advance. The turning point in the Pacific war came with the American naval victory in the Battle of Midway in June 1942. The Japanese fleet sustained heavy losses and was turned back. In August 1942, American forces attacked the Japanese in the Solomon Islands, forcing a costly withdrawal of Japanese forces from the island of Guadalcanal in February 1943. Allied forces slowly gained naval and air supremacy in the Pacific, and moved methodically from island to island, conquering them and often sustaining significant casualties. The Japanese, however, successfully defended their positions on the Chinese mainland until 1945.

All eight U.S. Navy battleships were damaged, and four were sunk. Of the eight damaged, two were raised, and with four repaired, six battleships returned to service later in the war. The Japanese also sank or damaged three cruisers, three destroyers, an anti-aircraft training ship, and one mine layer. After a failed attempt to costurera Shanghai in January, Prime Minister was assasinated on may 15, 1932 by Some elements of the imperial Japanese Army.
Territorial causes:
As mentioned before Japan needed to expand their territory in order to get the materiales they need to increase their economy. Japan attacked Wake islands, Guam, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaya, for natural resources. Japan was feeling powerful enough to attack one of the powerful countries in those years: the US, so they attack Pearl Harbor, causing severe damage to the US armament.
In the other hand, the US president Roosevelt approved the creation of the Manhattan project to explore the military uses.
After the attack in Pearl Harbor, multiples wars occurred for Japan, with the territories they were invading, later the US joined to fight against Japan because they did not want the Japanese to have those territories.
The last war was in Okinawa Island in 1945. After this war, the US decided instead to use strategic bombing in Japan. The US first attack with firebombs took place in Tokyo, while the atomic bomb was in the final steps of development. Five months later, the US dropped the first Atomic bomb on Hiroshima on August 6th, and the second bomb on August 9th on Nagasaki. Russia took advantage of this and invade Japanese occupied Manchuria the same day. On August 14th Emperor Hirohito ordered to end the war.

As we all know, Japan was bombarded by two nuclear bombs. One in Hiroshima and one in Nagasaki. This produced great consequences that were not good. In Hiroshima alone, there were more than twenty-one thousand soldiers and between seventy thousand or even one hundred and forty-six thousand dead. In Nagasaki between thirty thousand and eighty thousand, in total would be the loss of one hundred twenty-nine thousand to two hundred sixty thousand dead. There were also survivors, but most of them had fatal injuries and many of them were unable to survive. Many of today's survivors of radiation sickness cancer can be a prime example. Leaving aside the deaths, there was also the destruction of two big cities that are only now beginning to inhabit again. In Hiroshima, about 70% of the structures were destroyed. On the other hand, around 40% of Nagasaki was destroyed, this was a very important city for its great ports. It was a city that had a great fishing industry, when it was destroyed, all its port was lost, causing a great impact on this industry in Japan.

The military was unmotivated, Japan had lost all its captured territories.

Other consequences were the lost of 42% of national wealth. During two years, the economic operations in Japan were almost stoped completely. Because of this, there were shortage of food, causing famine.

Japan was eliminated as a major power in Asia: Because It just lost a lot of soldiers in the Pacific War, and due to the atomic bombs of Hiroshima and Nagazaki , and it needed to recover from it as a result with all these problems Japan was not in a position that would let it continue as a strong country. However United states offered help to Japan since the atomic catastrophy was their fault, some historians say that the principal cause of United States offering help was to avoid that Japan rises up again and to prepare against them. As it was still recovering from the damage it could not made great movements, however it could reach at least one of the best positions on the industrial market. So basically at the end Japan could not reach the status of Superpower again but it could step in a favorable position in the market, allying with United States.

They paid a price for this. They must buy medicine for everyone. Residents destroyed the building. The materials, houses, streets, and places where Japan is forced to rebuild will cost a lot of money. Therefore, Japan no longer has more resources than before, so the United States surrendered and won.
Another consequence is that Japan lost many conquered territories after the war, but these territories do not have many resources. As a result, Japan suffered extensive damage and was very vulnerable.

Japan had been occupied by allies at the end of the war. The country was demilitarized; despite continuing on the throne, the emperor was forced to renounce his divinity and promulgate a new constitution, democratize the country and change the system of education. After a lengthy post-war recession, the United States supported Japan politically, but through the Marshall Plan, it was not granted as much priority as Europe. But the country was rebuilt little by little, the economy began to grow in the sixties and seventies to become one of the most industrialized countries in the world. Japan 's definitive exit from the Chinese territory was supposed to end the war. Manchuria, Taiwan, and the areas occupied during the Sino-Japanese War were once again under Chinese nominal sovereign rights, and Chiang Kai-shek restored the Nanjing administration.

The US declared war on Japan. Axis collaborator Nazi Germany announced war on the West on December 11. That's placing the US in a war on two sides. In the first months following the Pearl Harbor attack Japan's had tremendous strategic success. A change took place after the Battle of Midway in June 1942. That was the first time that Allied powers succeeded in making headway in the Pacific. The United States dropped atom weapons on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945. As a consequence, nearly 120,000 civilians have died. In September 1945 Japan formally surrendered.

After the attack on Pearl Harbor, and USA declared the sate of war, Japan achieved a long series of military successes.
In October 1944, American forces began retaking the Philippines from Japanese troops. In early 1945, American forces suffered heavy losses during the invasions of Iwo Jima (February) and Okinawa (April), an island of strategic importance off the coast of the Japanese home islands. Finally American forces conquered the 2 significant and straategical islands that Japan had in mid-June 1945.
After the 2 launched Atomic bombs, one on Agoust 4 and the otherone on Agoust 8, Japan surrender to them on Agoust 14. And after that USA started invading Japan until they formally surrender against them on September the 2nd - 1945.

Political causes of the Pacific War
While Japanese forces were successfully occupying Manchuria, there was political unrest in Tokyo. After a failed attempt to capture Shanghai in January, Prime Minister Inukai Tsuyoshi was assassinated on May 15, 1932 by radical elements of the Imperial Japanese Navy who were angered by his support of the London Naval Treaty and his attempts to curb the military's power. Tsuyoshi's death marked the end of civilian political control of the government until after world war ll. Control of the government was given to Admiral Saitō Makoto. Over the next four years, several assassinations and coups were attempted as the military sought to gain complete control of the government. On Nov. 25, 1936, Japan joined with Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy in signing the Anti-Comintern Pact which was directed against global communism. In June 1937, Fumimaro Konoe became prime minister and, despite his political leanings, sought to curb the military's power.
Economic causes
The war in the Pacific relate to Japan's desire to effectively compete with the industrialized nations of western Europe and the United States. As an island nation, Japan had very few natural resources of her own and, therefore, looked elsewhere for raw materials to supply her growing industrial base. Japan felt that Asia and the western Pacific islands were inside her spheres of influence, and resented the presence of other colonial powers such as Britain, France, Holland, and the United States

The Great Depression was a worldwide economic upheaval that is generally considered to have begun with the United States stock market crash of 29 October 1929. This triggered a downwards spiral of bank failures and unemployment that, by 1933, had put 25% of the U.S. work force out of a job. The effects spread around the world, and among the countries worst hit were Germany and Japan. Most historians consider the Great Depression to have encouraged the rise of authoritarian regimes in these countries, triggering the chain of events that ultimately led to the Second World War.
Social causes

The underlying causes of the outbreak of the war in the Pacific relate to Japan's desire to effectively compete with the industrialized nations of western Europe and the United States. Japan felt that Asia and the western Pacific islands were inside her spheres of influence, and resented the presence of other colonial powers such as Britain, France, Holland, and the United States. Following the invasion of China, and subsequent occupation of French Indo-China, the Japanese felt increasing pressure from the United State.
Territorial Causes
In the 19th century, we have to remember that Japan had already defeated Russia and China in addition to undergoing a breakthrough in terms of industrialization and a great militarization of society. In other words, the military had more power than the government itself. This industrialization made that many more natural resources were needed than Japan itself, within its borders, which required new territories to search for raw materials to continue industrializing the country. For that, they needed a territorial expansion (new territories) and that is why they set their eyes on the Asian zone; both on the mainland (Russia and China) and on all the Pacific islands (Malaysia, Indochina, Borneo)

Military Causes

Pearl Harbor attack, (December 7, 1941), surprise aerial attack on the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor on Oahu islands of hawaii, by the Japanese that precipitated the entry of the United States into World war ll.

The Pacific War took place in the Pacific Ocean, its islands and in East Asia, between 1941 and 1945. Today, many Japanese use the term Pacific War, while others use the Great East Asian War.

In 1937, Japan resumed its expansion through China, initiating the Second Sino-Japanese War. After fighting two battles with the Soviet Union, with adverse results, Japan occupied Indochina, a French colony, seeking to end the long contest in China. The United Kingdom, the United States and other nations with interests in the region responded by imposing an economic embargo that threatened to suffocate the small country. After failed negotiations, Japan simultaneously attacked, without prior declaration of war, territories controlled by the United States, the United Kingdom, Thailand, and the Netherlands in December 1941.

The Japanese attack failed to destroy the US Navy in the Pacific, although it weakened it. Japan managed to conquer the Philippines, Malaysia, Burma, the Dutch East Indies, Hong Kong and launched an offensive in the Indian Ocean in 1942. The Japanese advance was halted that same year, following defeats in the battle of the Coral Sea and the battle. Midway, the latter with disastrous results for Japan.

In the following years, Japan continued to launch offensives in China, without obtaining the surrender of the Chiang Kai-shek government. The British at the same time proved incapable of recapturing Burma, but managed to stop an attack by Japanese and Hindu nationalists against British India.

The American advance through the Pacific managed to force a great naval battle known as the Battle of the Philippine Sea, where the Japanese Navy suffered irreparable losses, which were exploited in the battle of the Gulf of Leyte. Since then, American naval superiority in the Pacific has been indisputable.

By 1945, the allies had recaptured Burma, New Guinea, Borneo, the Philippines, the Aleutian Islands, and occupied Japanese territory, Iwo Jima, and both sides were preparing to do battle on the great Japanese islands. The launch of the atomic bombs in August 1945 coincided with the Soviet invasion of Manchuria.

Japan's defeat in the war was a great turning-point in the history of US, Japanese relations. Japan's military defeat and the subsequent US Occupation prepared the way toward the US, Japan alliance, by eliminating the Japanese military and through the introduction of profound democratic reforms in Japan. Japan lost all its colonies that it obtained from the conquest that this country made in the Pacific and, and Japan lost territories in the north with the Soviet Union. Many of its leaders and authorities during the war judged as war criminals such as General Tojo but nevertheless its emperor with diplomatic immunity, as a last thing Japan had two totally devastated cities which were Hiroshima Nagasaki due to the explosion of the first two bombs. atics launched by the United States.

The first of them is the most logical, that they lost the war and therefore they could no longer fulfill their plans for expansion worldwide. The second consequence is a negative impact on its economy, since war leaves many expenses and losses, both economic and human, during the war the productivity of a nation is greatly affected since a large part of its resources are being used in the manufacture of weapons and soldiers. The third consequence is the unfavorable image of its international policy, because several of the world's most powerful and influential nations were declared enemies. Another consequence is the moral effectación of the Japanese who hoped to emerge victorious from this armed conflict, and had to assume a great defeat.

causes of the outbreak of the war in the Pacific relate to Japan's desire to effectively compete with the industrialized nations of western Europe and the United States. As an island nation, Japan had very few natural resources of her own and, therefore, looked elsewhere for raw materials to supply her growing industrial base. Japan felt that Asia and the western Pacific islands were inside her spheres of influence, and resented the presence of other colonial powers such as Britain, France, Holland, and the United States.

On August 6, 1945, the United States Army Air Force dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Tens of thousands of people died in the initial explosion, and many more died later from radiation exposure. In October 1944, American forces began retaking the Philippines from Japanese troops, who surrendered in August 1945. That same year, the United States Army Air Forces launched a strategic bombing campaign against Japan. British forces recaptured Burma. In early 1945, American forces suffered heavy losses during the invasions of Iwo Jima (February) and Okinawa (April), an island of strategic importance off the coast of the Japanese home islands.

There is a territorial occupation in the Japanesse territories, by the Allies, they sent troops to the Japanesse territory to pacify and control that zone. There's also a strong demilitarization of Japan. This means that the japanese army was completly abolished. Also the Allies forced the emperor to reject the claim to be something divine, damaging the image the Japanesse people had of him. The emperor had to claim to be as equal as anyone. The thing is that Japan surrender if the emperor and his transcendence and sovereignty wasn't compromised, but they didn't say anything about his claim to be divine. Just by that they are afecting to the Japanesse culture and some of their principles, because they considered the emperor someone who had a power above the citizens. The Allies also oblige Japan to sign a new constitution with wich the counrty is more democrat so that there's an effective democracy in Japan and by that the whole educatie system changes.

The United States was still recovering from the impact of the Great Depression and the unemployment rate was hovering around 25%. Their involvement in the war soon changed that rate. American factories were retooled to produce goods to support the war effort and almost overnight the unemployment rate dropped to around 10%. As more men were sent away to fight, women were hired to take over their positions on the assembly lines. Before the War, women had generally been discouraged from working outside the home. Now, they were being encouraged to take over jobs that had been traditionally considered 'men's work.' That's why after the war they recover before the rest.

after pacific war ended japan was the one that suffered more consequences. first and the most impacting consequences were due to the atomic bomb, this completely destroyed the cities and took millions of lifes, but it didnt stop one day after that, the radiation caused a lot of illness on people of the cities affected. obviously another consequence is based in the economy, japan`s economic situation turned really bad, it fell down and they now ere in a lot of debts. Also after the behavior Japan had, they also suffered such a strong Demilitarisation, as the had a lot of punishments as unable them to have an army and forbbiden to continue with the weapons production industry

well, after pacific war USA was at a pretty "decent" position, I cant say it was such a great position becasue it really wasnt, they had a lost of lifes and material losts, even thoght they by first won the respect of the whole world by the victory against Japan. they recovered the power Japan took from them by their assaults and also stayed with the power over the pacific. One bad consequence they got is the lost of pearl harbor.
