I am reading the book "Over a thousand hills I walk with you." The main character in the book Jeanne d’Arc Umubyeyi. Something Jeanne says is "I wish I could grow up already. " She thinks that she is better off when she is grown up and not like a child. This book has an effect on others. Some of them teach you what it’s like to go through all this in a child’s eyes. Jeanne acts like she is an adult and she tries to eavesdrop on her mom and grandparents. Jeanne is an 8 year old girl who survived the Rwandan giocide.

I am reading the book, “Over a thousand hills I walk with you.” The main conflict in the book is about a girl that survived the Rwandan genocide and it tells it in her view point. It is an (internal or external) external conflict. It is Man vs. Society. I know this because there was war and people fighting against each other.

This week I am reading the book, “Over a thousand hills I walk with you.” The main idea this week is about “Dede” (Her nickname) wishing that she could be older to help her family. One supporting detail is when she says is that she will never forget the moment when her family members died trying to protect her. Another example is when she says that Jansen’s family helps out other families and children and she wanted to be just like them. Finally, she wanted to help her family because she wished they all survived instead of just her surviving and she felt like she could’ve done something to help.

I am reading the book, “Over a thousand hills I walk with you” An example of figurative language in the book is “Owww!”. This is an example of a onomatopoeia. I know this because it uses a sound. The author uses this to describe that Teya is screaming.

I am reading the book, “Over a thousand hills I walk with you.” It is told in the 3rd person point of view. I know this because some of the pronouns used are they and she/he. The narrator is telling a story about the lifestyle that Jeanne had. The author chose this point of view because there were different characters and it would have been harder for the author to always say “I” for first point of view.

I read the book, “Over the hills I walk with you.” I didn’t like it. This is because there were some parts of the book that I didn’t understand and the words are hard to pronounce. You might like it because it can educate you about Jeanne’s life. This book is realistic fiction genre. (I think) Some other books that are similar are “The survivors in Rwanda speaks” and “American Massacre.”
