To me, health means all aspects of your soul, body, and mind. Free from all kinds of illnesses, diseases, and stressors in life that negatively affect your health and overall well-being. This can range from mental health status, emotional well-being, environmental health, physical health, spiritual health, and many more. As soon as one of these declines. It can have a big effect on all of these aspects of health as a whole.

country focus India: India, with its massive and diverse population of 1.45 billion. Faces a range of challenges and opportunities. The country's healthcare system struggles with disease burdens. While its economy experiences rapid growth, income inequality and poverty persist as concerns. The World Health Organization (WHO) has also played a significant role in helping India. WHO has collaborated with the Indian government on various disease control and eradication programs. For example, WHO has been involved in India's efforts to eliminate Malaria, tuberculosis, and cholera.

Malaria: Malaria is an intense and in some cases life-threatening disease that is caused by a parasite, more commonly mosquitos which live off human blood. those who come in contact with malaria often become symptomatic with high fevers, shaking chills, and flu-like symptoms.
treatment: artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT) is a combination of two or more drugs that work against the malaria parasite in different ways. This is usually the preferred treatment for chloroquine-resistant malaria. Examples include artemether-lumefantrine (Coartem) and artesunate-mefloquine.

Tuberculosis: Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by germs that are transmitted from one person to another through the air. TB primarily impacts the lungs, although it can also affect various other body organs, including the brain, kidneys, or spine. Without proper treatment, TB can be fatal.
treatment: If you contract TB a combination of antibacterial medications for a period of six to 12 months. The most common treatment for active TB is isoniazid INH in combination with three other drugs—rifampin, pyrazinamide and ethambutol.

Cholera: Cholera is an acute intestinal infection caused by the consumption of bacterium Vibrio cholerae contaminated food and water.
Treatment: administration of oral rehydration solution (ORS). The WHO/UNICEF ORS standard sachet is dissolved in 1 litre (L) of clean water. Adult patients may require up to 6 L of ORS to treat moderate dehydration on the first day.

Severely dehydrated patients are at risk of shock and require the rapid administration of intravenous fluids. These patients are also given appropriate antibiotics to diminish the duration of diarrhoea, reduce the volume of rehydration fluids needed, and shorten the amount and duration of V. (World Health Organisation , Cholera)

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The most relevant aspect of the competency standard 12.1 for me, was how unconscious biases can influence your interactions in healthcare settings towards a patient.

Reading these standards I have improved my understanding of how my personal cultural background, beliefs, values, and biases can impact my work as a student nurse. Through training and self-reflection, I've become more aware of the potential biases I may hold, both consciously and unconsciously, and how they can affect my interactions with patients.

Having learned to recognize and address these influences, I now feel that I am more capable of caring for patients from different cultural backgrounds. I feel This skill is essential for me to learn and adapt because it directly impacts the quality of care I can provide. By being more culturally aware, I can build trust with my patients, communicate more effectively, and adjust my approach to their unique needs. In a diverse and multicultural healthcare setting, I feel this competency is an essential requirement for delivering patient-centred care and ensuring the well-being of all patients, regardless of their cultural or ethnic background.

Culturally responsive clinical practice: Working with people from ...

Cob loaf is a savoury favourite in my Australian culture, it is made on any occasion more specifically Christmas and watching the AFL. the cob loaf can also be called 'cob' or 'cobba' among Australians it would be very rare if this entertainer dish is not finished in 15 minutes. Although this dish is not the healthiest recipe I have adapted it to a healthy alternative option with the same taste to align with the Australian Dietary guidelines.

recipe
ingredients

1 Onion finely diced

2 cloves Garlic crushed

100 g Bacon. Finely diced

400 tin Corn

180 g spinach fresh

300 g Ricotta

300 g Sour cream

1 cob loaf top removed and insides hollowed out

method

Preheat the oven to 180C and line a baking tray with baking paper.

Heat a non-stick fry pan on medium heat. Add the onion, garlic and bacon to the pan. Sauté for 3-4 mins. Add in the corn and spinach stirring until the spinach just wilts. Finally, remove from the heat and stir through the ricotta and sour cream until melted and well combined.

Prepare the cob loaf by slicing off the top and pulling out the bread from the inside of the cob. Place the cob loaf on the tray and pour in the dip mixture. Place the top of the cob back on top and then scatter the insides of the loaf around the tray.

Bake in the oven for 15 minutes or until the bread is golden.

Australian indie is a genre of music that encompasses a wide range of styles, including rock, pop, and folk. This form of music is praised among Australians. This genre of music started in the late 70's early 80's. A lot of these indie bands sing and acknowledge mental health and focus on independence, individuality, and creativity. This form of music can improve an individual's health and well-being much more than people think and it opens Australians' minds to all the opportunities they have in life, it can also improve one's mental health as it did for me.
