Why did the British pass it: The British passed this act because they wanted to keep peace between the Native American settlers, and to keep the colonists near the Atlantic Coast where British authority was stronger.
How did the colonists react: Britain was in debt because they sent troops to enforce the act, as a result this led them to tax the colonists.
