-Nail Polish itself in liquid form originated in China (was reserved for royalty).
-The Victorian time era referred to nail polish as “nail varnish”.
-In the 1800’s only the “wild woman” were seen wearing polish.
-1920’s Is when the half moon or as we know it the French tip became known. Cutex became popular with just a drop of color for application.
-in the 1940’s woman started venturing off to colors of blue and green for their polish choice.
-1950’s-1960’s woman opted for neutral tones.
-1970’s is when gold and glitters became the hot choice for many and polish was first seen on men.
-in the 1980’s hot pink and green were popular and nail art was introduced.
-1990’s bade known for their iridescent and pearl tines as well as the French tip.
-Now in the 2000’s woman have many options of colors and styles and gel polish was introduced which gives high shine and longevity.

-Acetate Solvent= Hardens the nitrocellulose and makes a smooth crystal like layer.
-Solvents= Added to 
polish to determine the consistency and drying time of polish. Some of the solvents include; 
formalin, xylene, formaldehyde, toluene,
-Formaldehyde= Makes 
the polish stick to the nail and also helps hardens the polish.
-Plasticizers= Prevents the polish from cracking and wearing off but also keeps it flexible.
-Mica and Titanium= Gives Glitter and pearl type colors the sparkle affect.
-Stearalkonium Hectorite- Thickening ingredient.
-Benzophenone-1=  
Prevents the polish colors from fading.

 Kim continues to say:
-people mostly request polish that last, which is gel color, the only downfall is the Amount of time it takes to remove. 
-The number one chosen color she gets requested is red but mauve is not too far behind.
-People tend to change their polish with the season and many request nail art. Flowers and scroll design and often requested.
 —I asked Kim what she thinks will be the 
next nail trend and she replied “anything that is retro, retro is big and people always want to relive the good ol’ days”.
