The social, emotional, mental, physical, and cognitive development of each student. It prepares the learners for life, not just for testing. This provides resources and directs policy to ensure that each learner enters the school healthy and develops to improve the practices of a healthy lifestyle.

REFERENCE

Slade, S. Sub-Saharan Africa sees 42% of its pupils leaving school early, and 33% of southern and western Asian students also drop out. While free universal education for all children is an important goal, the way policies and organizations approach the goal should keep global dropout rates in mind. This also applies in the Philippines, In the year 2018 in Mindanao there were 2.1 million dropouts between the ages 16 and 24, the overall status dropout rate was 5.3 percent. Three Department of Education regions recorded the highest student dropout rates in the country last school year, a government survey said The 12.2 percent drop-out rate of Davao region is higher than the national rate of 10 percent.

REFERENCES

Knofczynski, A. (2017). According to UNESCO approximately half of the world's population (some 3.6 billion people) doesn't even have an internet connection which means at least 463 million students will not have the right equipment order to access remote learning.

In Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao in the Philippines there was a 30% drop in enrollments, the Senator Gatchalian cited a decline in enrollments during the school year 2019-2020 and a 9% decline in the current school year. The decline in enrollment was caused by multiple factors such as the war in Marawi but the pandemic situation only made things harder therefore there was an alarm of a 30% drop in enrollments.

REFERENCES

UNESCO (2021)

One year into COVID-19 education disruption: Where do we stand?

https://en.unesco.org/news/one-year-covid-19-education-disruption-where-do-we-stand

Gotinga, JC (2020)

More than 2 million ‘dropouts’ as schools adapt to pandemic – Gatchalian

https://www.rappler.com/nation/gatchalian-says-millions-dropouts-schools-adapt-pandemic

DepEd has made changes in order to help those people who do not have the necessary equipment for online learning. Despite this change many students are still having a hard time learning and that they want to make the students as safe as possible, so they made BE-LCP. This aims to provide quality distance learning through the use of radio and television and even the internet. This program has selected teachers who were trained and these will be aired On September 21 in many different channels.

The DepEd has selected teachers who were trained to be teacher-broadcasters by the country's top journalists to deliver lessons through the DepEd TV since not all areas in the country have an internet connection.

DepEd Undersecretary for Administration Alain Pascua said the department was able to double the number of learners that can access the platform at the same time with the help of the Department of Information and Communications Technology and National Telecommunications Commission.

Learners and teachers can also access it free of data charges by all mobile subscribers of Globe, TM, Smart, Sun, and TNT.

REFERENCE

Montemayor, T. However, the first thing that we could do as ordinary citizens is to communicate with them by any means such as using social media and encourage them to: take a break rather than quit, consider a different school, ask for help, be mindful about nutrition and more. By easily posting encouraging and inspiring posts, we could potentially prevent students from dropping out.

The other thing that we could do as normal citizens is to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor in online learning by donating spare gadgets.
